The church ain't the problem its the people trying to control what faith should be.. And what morality is or should be...yeah the people!
I get bored if there's no true faith conversation without condemnation in church... Hence the situation.. Never forget or let the people forget the other contries with legal prostitution and other things that operate just fine. There's still church and faith in such places too.
If you feel guilty in church you probably feel guilty everywhere else don't you? Anyway enjoy the convo lots of luck.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but saw this this morning.
This woman won The Voice of Italy, and just released the cover linked below.
Yes, she is a real nun. Don't know why, but this feels all kinds of wrong...

Yeah, I think she was on the Spanish-language version of the Voice.
While I'm here, and since we are "confessing", f*cking a nun is on my bucket list. There's something about the outfit....

Several "nuns" attending the 2013 and 2014 San Antonio Hollow Weenie events.... ijs
Not sure about the Mardi GraciASS events, I was too busy enjoying to make costume notes.

Nah, I consider myself a fairly moral and good person. I don't hurt anyone and like to think that two consenting adults having sex is not some morally abhorrent act.
Illegality and morality are two separate issues: if you think in terms of illegality/legaity versus what is right/wrong, then one represents a free independent mind versus one that has just been indoctrinated with arbitrary rules.

Very nicely said!!
The whole analogy of a "moral compassion" is seriously flawed. Morality is a very complex, multidimensional concept. I really doubt that for anyone it points in only one direction. To be very direct: I have met a number of ladies I have come to realize are extremely moral people, so when someone claims their presence in this corner of the world makes them "180 degrees out from churchgoers" I find that view both ignorant and foolish. It also makes me wonder how they view themselves since they too posted here.

What does that even mean? You approve of them? Of how they live their life? So you judge them favorably? But you object to someone else judging someone unfavorably?
My experience is most people prefer their definition of morality as all-encompassing as they can make it. Makes more room at the table for their self.

For those of us who believe (of which I am one), we are all sinners. We know this is wrong but are weak in the flesh. I tried to live the "Godly" life. Porn and sex are really my only "vices". I hobbied before I got married. Rationalized it off as my way of sowing wild oats before settling down. I never fooled around in high school or college as I never had a "serious" girl friend. Even single, I had a guilt complex about this being wrong, but I got hooked on porn and sex at a very early age even though I never "consummated" it with a real partner until I was well into my 20s. I really didn't know what sex was until my teens, and when I did, I was taught that it was evil unless married. Naturally, I kept my mastaburatory activities well hidden from my parents. I actually lost my "virginity" to a provider. When I did get married, I tried my best to remain faithful. I thought I could resist, but I found myself with a provider after 7 years of staying clean. It felt refreshing to be with someone new and different, yet I had guilt and remorse. Since then, I found myself searching out providers until I'm at where I am now-- seeing a provider once or twice a month. I still see myself as a believer even though I don't attend church regularly. My relationship isn't the greatest and it could collapse. If it did, it would almost be a relief, but I'm not the one who is going to walk out.

People can believe in God based on science (like I do) without being religious. The two aren't mutually exclusive. I understand where you're coming from OP but the reality is most churches conceal all their wrong doing and bad deeds. Consider all the non-prosecuted molestation that's been going on in Churches and condoned by the clergy for decades.
Every Country and Nation believes and thinks God is on their side for some odd reason. Radical Muslims blow themselves up in the name of God while "Christian Nations" claim God is on their side in victory. It's a never ending cycle in the name of religion.
Karl Marx said it best: "Religion is the opium of the people."

Legality and morality are neither one relevant concepts until we first decide WHO has the authority to set the standards.
We probably all agree who sets the legal standard but who sets the standard to say what's 'moral' or not? Society? No certainly its members don't agree so there must be something higher. Religion? No, same argument. In order for 'morality' to be applicable to a society it must come from a commonly recognized authority. And therein lies our problem. By definition, morality isn't morality if we each live to individual standards.

I thinck the OP is just worried that he will wear a scarlet letter in church or that lightening bolts will strike him if he walks into a church.
