I like this old school format. It brings me back to a time when hip hop was solid IMO but if you never liked the genre, then this means nothing to you. I love music! One of my favorite concert experiences was riding on the Rock 101 party bus to Ozfest in San Antonio. Don't remember the year but it was one of the last concerts for the lead singer of Drowning Pool. I think that was '02. I found a new love for them and Mudvayne thanks to that show! That song Dig got the crowd goin! Linkin Park also put on a good show at that concert!

Yeah also grew up listening to hip hop in the 90s...a buddy introduced me to 92.1 a few days ago and I've been hooked every since. I haven't changed my radio station in my truck from the 94.5 the buzz in a long time, but like the hobby world have to try something new every once in awhile.

Yeah Zane I love music as well but don't seem to have time to listen to it as much as I used to. Can't say I've been that deep into rock like you obviously did but I listen to all kinds of shyte. You'd be shocked how many Carpenters, Beetles, Steely Dan, Eagles, Paul Simon, John Denver, etc. songs I can sing along to. Growing up deep in S Oak Cliff I still don't know how that happened.

Yeah, that's quite the range for a brotha from Oak Cliff! Lol!
But I won't lie to ya... I'll jam the shit out of some Eagles.. And for some reason the band Chicago brings me to my happy place. Might have something to do with that Peter Cetera song from Karate Kid II.

Will absolutely find a happy place with Chicago: "Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care? WaWaWa..."

Speaking of old school rap this was on point and so was the East coast version led by KRS1.

I am old enough to remember when there was no such thing as hip hop or rap. Music was played on instruments! To me that is still the best music.
Now when rap first came out I did not like it at all. Some of it started to grow on me like, NWA or Ghetto Boyz. But most rap fans today won't listen to anything older than 6 months ago. By then it is old and not cool anymore. I don't see the point in an old school rap station if kids don't see it as hip anymore.

Key phrase is 'old school' Zero. You're right, young folks move on pretty quickly. This station would be for us and the few young people who like their parents' music.

I agree with you thedr , I'm a huge old school rap fan. Rap was at it's best when biggie and tupac were going at it .

I agree with TheDr. This station is not for the Millennials. It's for us 30 somethins and older that remember when rap consisted of the very people you named. This morning they were playing "Damn It Feels Good To Be a Gangsta". That's classic Geto Boys right there! This station in a weird way is a breathe of fresh air by playing old music. Zero, I think you might actually like this station as a nice change of pace. Old Biggie and Pac.. Ice Cube.. "Today Was A Good Day"... Maaaan, I almost didn't want to get out of the car!

And on the real instrument note, I feel you! I played saxophone in a couple jazz bands in high school and college. There's no substitute for live instruments. I saw Jay Z in ummm.. '08 I believe when the House of Blues first opened with a 12 piece band. It was a very small and intimate show... Just a couple hundred people. Hearing some of his hits with the "tat tat" of a live trap set and someone thumping on a bass guitar changed the energy of a usual rap concert. It was cool... and fucking expensive to get Jay Z to play for such a small crowd... I paid almost $800 for a pair of VIP tix... But it was still a very nice style change.

I've zoomed past that on the dial but never stopped. May see what it's about.

Zane loves live music, women, fine dining and luxury automobiles. I have no issues with dumping money on any of those things! That Jay Z concert happened to combine all of them in one evening.

"Disrespect my clique, my shit's imperial! Fuck around and made her milk box material!"
