I think most of the real answers have already been offered up, most notably anonymity on the internet. Plus, much to my surprise initially (15 years ago, or so) there is a surprising amont of misogyny among hobbyists. It's certainly not universal, but it's far more than I would have expected. Plus, some folks who participate on both sides of the hobby just aren't worth a shit at dealing with people, love drama, or just have too much fucking time on their hands. Some never got out of the junior high school mind set. Some don't' have a life outside of ECCIE.

But I don't seem to attract too much controversy, and controversy doesn't seem to follow me. So there is something you can do about it. Probably harder to do something about it as a provider, but it's probably not impossible to do something to at least reduce the drama. Probably a few folks that are constitutionally incapable of reducing the drama. And that shouldn't be -- but probably is -- a surprise to those folks. C'est la vie!!

I started with ASPD and then moved here so I've been around for a while. With the exception of exactly FOUR members, I haven't had problems here. One was a male, the others were providers. Sure, there are people who don't care for me and some have even said so. I don't care. I focus on the positive.

Yes, this board has changed from what it used to be. It was a kinder, gentler place in the beginning but everything evolves. It's become much more diverse with the increase in membership. That should translate to more clients to go around, not more adversity.

I'm sorry you have such a hard time but from what I've read, you bring a lot of it on yourself and take it personally. Here's a little advice, OP. Learn to compartmentalize and leave work at the office. If someone offends you, just let it go and move along. "Oh my god, life is so fair!" said no one ever.

Those are all her own edits, not staff edits. Everytime a post is edited by a staff member an automated email is sent out to the staff so we are aware when a staff member edits a post.
