I don't get it - is there anywhere around here where you can really open it up? Funny seeing all these ferrari, lambo, etc here in lakeway. 30mph speed limit. I guess 1st gear gets a good workout! Saw a tesla a couple days ago - tempting...

I actually had to get one of the slowest blobs on the road after a few tickets - and I even already had a valentine1

Got to drive a 325 and a 530 on the autobahn in Germany while stationed there....very nice....no problem running the 530i at 150mph and letting go of the steering wheel - so well balanced. No issues with these two models...have heard from friends all kind of issues about the X5....

SORRY It's A Nice Car, BUT IT'S NOT MY LEXUS!!!!!

GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

The SC 430 I had had been in an accident before I bought it and had much more structural damage than I thought. Too expensive to fix. When I looked at the BMW the dealer made a HUGE mistake in estimating the value of the SC 430 and gave me full value. I just couldn't pass up the deal.

SC 430 pluses to me -- sports car look, Lexus quality.
BMW pluses to me -- better handling, performance, more room in the back seat.

I do agree with you -- I enjoy my BMW but I loved my Lexus.

I almost became a BMW Z3 owner several years ago.

One of the car rental agencies at the Austin airport had a few, and They Saw Me Coming.

After I turned it in, I did my homework, in detail.

I was all set to buy a Z3.

There was just one little fly in the ointment.

The Chevy dealer a few blocks from my apartment had just taken a Corvette off the hands of the local GM technician school. Because it was a school car, it had 3400 very gentle miles on the clock, so they couldn't sell it for full pop, but it still came with the full warranty.

They matched my price, and the rest was history.

Had a lovely 328iC for several years! Kept the top down most of the time so it wasn't too comfortable to drive above 80, but I made up for it by just not slowing down much for any corners :-)

I'd love me a 335d!

Oh, you know what the difference between a porcupine and a BMW is don't you?

Finn It's a Bimmer not a Beemer or a BMer. .While I can't point to any official document that supports this, my understanding of the origins are as follows. I got this off a bimmerboard and is a quote from a BMW spokesperson.

The term Beemer was first used with motorcycles. Back when British bikes dominated the market and BSA was a well-known marque, riders referred to them as Beezers -- a way to say the letters BSA as if it were a word.

BMW riders said Beemer as a way of saying BMW as a word. This was long before the popularity of BMW cars, so whenever the term Beemer was spoken, it referred to the motorcycle. In theory, one could apply Beemer to either cars or bikes since it is only a reference to the name BMW. In fact some folks do call BMW cars Beemers.

When the cars became popular, many people referred to them as Bimmers as well as Beemers. I don't know why this was adopted instead of simply using the existing Beemers.

But generally speaking, one calls the bikes Beemers and the cars Bimmers. While it would be ok to refer to a car as a Beemer, it doesn't seem appropriate to refer to a bike as a Bimmer.

Well I don't think its OK to call a car a Beemer. Wouldn't that be confusing? What if we called a knife a fork? A nuclear bomb a toothbrush? A politician honest? Or a car a motorcycle? Confusion. Anarchy. What next? A total breakdown of communication. Possibly the end of civilization or even nuclear holocaust.

Where was I? Oh yeah, other than letting people call stuff the wrong name, this BMW spokesperson is right on.

To sum up and in order to avoid confusion, let's just say that Beemer is the label for BMW motorcycles, and that makes Bimmer the preferred label for BMW cars.

BMW = Broke Man's Wheels

Harley Davidson died and went to heaven and was boasting to God how he'd created the best motor bike in the world!
God disagreed, saying BMW's were a better designed bike!
Harley said "What the fuck do you know about design. You created woman and look at the problems we have with them!"

"Ahem" says God " But,I think you'll find a lot more men are riding my fucking creation than yours!"

There is no substitute for a BMW or Mercedes. Those are the originals who set the standard which the Japanese wanna-bees try to copy. Lexus is nothing more than a dolled-up Toyota.

just who is copying who???

two are front wheel drive and 1 is all wheel drive but wait BMW doesn't make a front wheel drive car

really I give you 10 seconds to tell me what these cars are

oh I gave you one hint but one of these cars is 21K another 28K and another 32K

My point is that MB and BMW both make crap cars and a few that are real winners and so do the Japanese.

Owning a BMW is NOT all that it is lead us to believe...
