For every analytical response, you're going to get 10 emotional responses.

A streetwalker is a hooker who hangs out on the streets and most likely has never thought of using the internet or alternative means to advertize her wares.
A provider is a hooker as well as she sells sex for money. Other than that, each person has their own take on how to define a provider. All it is an euphemism for providing sex. Technically, a streetwalker is a provider-- just a sub-genre of provider.

Your probably right.
But take a 40 dollar street walker give her a smart phone and now she want 250/hour.
Hell let her get some to take a few good pics of her and now you got an up scale provider.
A bus ticket makes her a touring provider.

Well, RD, in 65 posts you have succeeded to establish a well defined persona on here. Can't say I expect a lot of positive vibes from the ladies, but then I assume you are quite aware of that and it is exactly what you intend. Of course I could be wrong.
To each his own I guess. Guys like you are quite helpful at making my life easier.

A friend of mine took a course offered by the police for people who lived downtown. One week's talk was about prostitution. The police officers said they are not worried about the mid to high range "internet" girls because they have ways to protect themselves. They are worried about the low end backpage girls and the streetwalkers because the police found that many of them had pimps who abused them. As the police realized, many (but not all) of the lowend backpage girls had or still streetwalk.
I have a friend with a warehouse where streetwalkers are and they are still around even with smartphones.
I've always said to friends that I do not have the guts to be a streetwalker. With no screening/verification, possibly having to deal with pimps, or not having a safe call - it would be scary.
I personally don't care what name is used on me: hooker, provider, courtesan, whore, escort, prostitute, call girl, or any other name for "ladies of the night". I don't put value (bad or good) on any of those names. Hell, I was called some of those names way before I even thought of doing this.
I am just glad we have ways to make sure the experience is better for both because of the internet and sites like this.

The difference. 1 has a limited area to "work". They have but maybe a block or two or maybe just a corner
The other has the whole world wide web. Endless options to gain business in areas that a street walker can not.
Then you have the provider who has been a hooker their whole life and then mix the two.. THINKING they are still fighting for that one "john" who drives by that street corner. When infact, instead of taking advantage of the WWW they are too busy trying to stake their claim for that corner.
The other difference
Usually the street walker has a pimp, just standing there watching.
The provider has a pimp that can watch from his own home... post links "promoting her via his profile or sig line... or make a 2nd handle to promote his property
Street walkers are usually homeless
Providers can get on the WWW and beg some poor soul for rent without working for it. So they are not homeless
Streetwalkers are usually addicts
Providers... well.... LOL.. SOME of them are NOT
Providers are usually clean and a smart one will know how to use internet to her advantage and market herself
Streetwalkers... you may get a gummy, maybe some body lice... and will know how to walk with some oooomph to market herself
