I did enjoy Mr. 3000 lol but yeah, I know, not in the league of the best. makes me think of Major League also.

this could open up lots of other threads thinking about it.

How so? Golf is an activity and is not a sport.

Okay, you get out there in long pants and walk 4 1/2miles in the heat up and down uneven terrain 4 days (actually 6 days a week cause most pros play two days prior to the tourney starting to get a feel for the course) a week and slam a little white ball up the fairway with all your strength infront of and surrounded by 40000 spectators. And on top of the physically draining part, try and shoot under par. Try and sink a 35ft putt with an audience. Try and not shank one into the drink or woods or try and not hit some bystanders. It takes a little more physical and mental skills to compete at the pro level than most people actually believe is involved. That's why most(somewhere in the neighborhood of 80%) golfers are never able to reach or maintain a handicap of less than 18. Try it before you knock it.

Walking is not a sport. Most of us walk everyday. The golfers walk a couple hundred yards then stop take a break then walk a bit more and another break... Yeah that is a sport, not. Yeah Raymond Floyd is an athlete.

Isn't there a walking event in the Olympics? Racewalking. So maybe walking isn't a sport but competitive walking IS a sport. Sort of like running from a grizzly bear isn't a sport.

So maybe golf is a sport when competitive. And an activity when done for fun.

Someone should make a movie about Racewalking.
