1953 is what the building says. Wow that has been there forever. Love Lasagna.

And you have to go early, because sometimes the kitchen runs out of barbacoa y consome -- another good reason for coming here.

Owner Sanchez sears huge hunks of lamb over smoldering wood. Then meat is roasted for nine hours, over a bed of chickpeas that collects the dripping juices. When he's done, the lamb is fall-apart tender, and the chickpeas have evolved into a hearty stew. Together they make for one of the most soulful meals you'll find in Dallas. And one of the cheapest.

I'll have to try. I had true barbacoa in mexico city and never found something quite like it in the us. Boy, you got me hungry! Thanks! Do you have their phone/address?

There is a new Italian place opened in the Bishop Arts District and I CAN'T WAIT to try it. Italian food is my weakness.

I think Ostioneria 7 Mares, at 3317 W. Walnut St. in Garland, qualifies as a hole in the wall.
For those old enough to remember, the building was originally a Bonanza Steakhouse
They serve TexMex seafood, and traditional Mexican dishes.

Del's burgers 110 S. McKinney. Richardson. About a block from Belt Line / Greenville

Babe's is not so much a hole in the wall, but they make damn good chicken. I had it yesterday. They have 9 locations but quite a few people think the Garland location is best

Mmmhmm food porn. Thanks for the nudge to checkout Kazys Gourmet. I pass by it everyday but haven't bothered to stop in. Now it's on the todo list!

If you ever find yourself in Bridgeport, look up Casillas. Good Mexican food, ample amount, and great salsa if you order the Marty sauce. It's off the main roads so it's not high profile but is a local's favorite.
