Private property owners should be able to ban guns from their property if they want to. It would be kind of stupid, however. Criminals won't obey the ban.
I am not worried about criminals coming into my home and endangering my life. Not one bit. I see no need to sit in my home day or night with a gun by my side in fear for my life. Home invasions simply are rare, especially in most communities.
As I said, homicides in the home are more likely to be done by someone you know -- spouse, neighbor, friend, etc. And how many people are killed in their home by accidental shootings?
I am not on my soapbox. If you or anyone else feels safer with a gun in the home for protection, do it. If I lived in an area that was high-crime I too would consider owning a handgun. Since I do not, I see absolutely no need for one.

I don't have all the answers to the countries problems. The only thing I can do is hold myself accountable. Maybe that's the ultimate solution, if everyone held themselves accountable and had a higher regard for humanity maybe we would have lower incidence of violence in our society. Picking apart the Constitution to form legal avenues to change or inhibit human behavior may eliminate one problem only to give rise to new ones.
