Default Auto Downloads from Eccie

When I log on to Eccie I started getting things auto downloaded. Why did this start? How do I get it to stop?

What browser are you using? Get AdBlock Plus for it, if you can. Then block those bitches.

I had to use google chrome. Because I.E. would not load, therefore I went to Chrome but slower. Then I noticed AFF downloaded and I deleted and ran better on Chrome.
Now when I log in I keep getting Auto downloads from AFF site. Why did this start. No problem for 2 years until recently.

The following are all good free tools for keeping the computer clean and free of malicious code as well as other nasty stuff.

CCleaner

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Revo Uninstaller

Avast! Antivirus

Zone Alarm Firewall

These are what I have been using for years. With these tools I have never had any malicious code cripple or otherwise have any effect on my Windows system. Also, the database updates for Avast! and Malwarebytes are free as well.

It sounds like there is still some residue left over from AFF. The auto update is most likely your problem. 3 ways to stop this, turn off auto update in chrome settings, I do not recommend, turn off Chrome updates by template, the best but complicated. Easiest get and run hijack this. They leave a nasty little file that looks like taskmgr.exe but it's taskmngr.exe.

Thanks for the information. I do have Zone Alarm but I will check these other items.

If you don't use AdultFriendFinder then you can just block a bunch of sites in your hosts file to block it.

I've been using hosts files since I can remember to block out most malware sites, adware, stupid dating sites, and ads. It's rather simple and very good to do so.

You can get it from MVPS hosts by downloading the hosts.zip file, extracting it, and running the MVPS, right clicking the MVPS.bat and running it as administrator.

What that will do is block a lot of "bad sites" on your machine by redirecting them to your local host. You can see a list of sites by clicking here.

My setup is:

Windows 7 x64, Comodo firewall (I use the old one because they fucked up the GUI on new one), Microsoft Security essentials, Malwarebytes, VPN, modded hosts files, Firefox with Adblock Plus and Flash block.
