Not getting into the fray, but:

Assuming anyone even wants another phone for texts and calls, might look into the burner app. I don't want two phones and want total security. It works fine for me and is pay as you go.

Texts are more problematic than calls...what you text is left on the receiving parties phone along with a digital record.

As a hobbyist that does not have a hobby phone, and hasn't in over 5 yrs..... I can see both sides of the story. I have had a couple of providers tell me they'll not see me without talking to me first.... which I tell them up front I don't have a hobby phone, and I completely respect their opinion to deny me the privilege of their company.

But in most cases, the amazing references I do have, vouch for me and the fact that I don't hobby phone.

My advice to both of you.... BD - I'd put somewhere on your profile "NO Phone - No Service" ... I know I've seen this on several providers profiles before, and I keeps me from wasting their time in trying to set up a date

Hogman.... I'd lead which the initial email/contact... "I do not have a hobby phone, and if this is a deal breaker, I completely understand" this gets it out of the way in the beginning and no questions afterwards..


PS.... FUCK - i just realized i'll never get to have the pleasure of BD, because of the lack of hobby phone.... this week is starting off crappy!

I'm a normal middle aged white guy and something about our phone calls always turn BD off .... Shrug ... Glad she's the only one to feel that way ... Starting to wonder if I sound black lol! Anyway ... She does do a lot of screening by how the conversation sounds by the sound of ours so I buy that that was the reason.

Wow! Arkansas has some different rules. I don't know any of y'all and not sure what the history is behind who backs up who but after reading thru this I wanted to comment on a few things:

First off, if she canceled even two minutes before the scheduled time then it does not qualify as a ncns. No call no show means no notification that the person will not make it and they never made it. Meaning the person was left sitting for a period of time wondering "wtf? They said this time and place and they are not here". That is a ncns. Maybe I am missing something but it read more like a last minute cancellation - which equally sucks but at least there is some immediate closure and no one is left waiting and wondering.

Secondly, about this phone call/screening thing..... Ok, I get the phone call thing, but not for screening. Screening should be done - at the very least - thru verified established provider references who can tell you if a gent is AA. You are also welcome to ask the gent inquiring about seeing you of he is aware of your "no AA" preference. Problem solved. No need to play the racial dialect police. I would love to be a fly on the wall the day you open the door to an AA man who you "screened" as white based on the sound of his voice. I honestly can't believe only one person called you out on posting something that inaccurate.

Google Voice is an excellent app just make sure to access the mobile site thru your phone's browser rather than installing the app. Reason being if you have a RW gmail account and a hobby gmail account, loading the app on your device may cause the contacts in the two gmail accounts to cross wires and you don't want your RW contacts being asked if they know your hobby contacts in Google+ or anything? Edit (sorry forgot this part): When u need to make the call tell the lady u will need to call from your personal line and there will be a call from a "private/blocked/unknown number" at a certain time then *67 before ur call and make sure you call her at the agreed time. Any provider who requires a call should be willing to accept an agreed upon time to answer a "private number" call.

I agree with requiring a phone call before an appt but not for screening - for discretion. Gents need a phone to call from in order to even get to my incall because there is no way in hell I would ever give out my exact location in any form of permanent electronic documentation. Electronic documentation being text, email, pm, etc. If a gent can't call me from a nearby location so I can verbally guide him in then there won't be an appt. BUT! This requirement is communicated before the gent ever sets out to see me. Once a time and day is agreed on, I ask him to confirm the night before and at that time I give him my number and cross streets making it clear that he MUST CALL from that intersection. If tells me he cannot call then I cancel.

Anyhoo, seems like a lot of this could have been avoided if the communication were more structured and focused. Sucks that it went so sideways. Better luck to you all in the future.

Well, I guess that depends on what you're screening for. I agree that a phone call can't confirm someone's ethnicity; but since that's not an issue to me, that's not what I'm trying to determine.

I think a lot of providers use a multi-faceted approach...references are a huge part of the process, obviously. I also like to give the gent an opportunity to contradict himself, by asking questions I already know the answers to. You'd be surprised how many will! Inconsistency, among other things...is a red flag to me.

I 100% agree with the verbal instructions to the incall location, versus text or email.

I would never meet anyone without talking to them on the phone first. It is not a question of safety cause I do my homework and expect that the provider will do her homework. I more interested in whether we hit it off socially and intellectually. A satisfying date to me is more than just a roll in the hay. There must be some connection to make it worth my time and effort.

Then that portion of the "screening" should have been done before the appt was even set up. Idk accidents happen. But just own up to it. Dont sit here and accuse the guy of everything but being white and refuse to acknowledge where the real fcuk ups were.

Apologize, offer a discount if he would like to book again. If he is indeed AA then get with a provider who does see AA that u know and trust, ask him if he would like to see her for the discounted rate and then make up the difference out of your own pocket. Just a suggestion. Point is, make it right.
