I had no idea they could live to 50 years! I think you'd go broke feeding your dragon if they were legal to have outside of a zoo.

I'd never call bullshit on you of course seeing as how so many critters are imported and breed illegally for the pet trade. It was just a couple weeks ago that a couple out west were busted selling some rare, illegal to own animals. Gawd I must be getting old, I don't recall enough of the news story to relay more than that.... but it does happen. And if I remember, they were facing pretty serious jail time and a very very hefty fine.

My uncle had 2 pet raccoons he rescued from the mother who was killed in the road by a car. They would come out of the pen and eat marshmallows right out of your hands lol

Little thieving shit eaters! But so damm cute! Lol

Neighbor had one that went wild when it hit maturity and ran off. I remember them begging my Dad, who was an avid hunter... not to shoot one when out in the field if he noticed a little collar and bell on it

He hated them, and actively looking for it out in the woods..... even calling its name as he walked around with a shotgun. What a prick eh?

He (or anyone else) never found it lol

It shouldn't be hard to find a farmer who'd take em and agree not to butcher them. I know they can sell alpaca wool and goat milk products.

Nah, that doesn't pay for the upkeep of the animals themselves.

Your right of course. Just figured if someone was already raising some for that purpose they may be interested in adding to their "herd"

Let me clarify. One male goat, one male alpaca. The goat is denutted but still has its fucking horns. He is the meanest SOB on earth. Take your eye off him and you get to feel those horns. We have a bit of land set off of the road. He's free to roam around during the day terrorizing anyone who dares to step foot on our land. Quite the watch-goat.
The alpaca is old and probably not the best for shearing. There is absolutely no reason on earth to own a elderly alpaca. My old lady is so smitten with the old fart, that when we had a mini-van, she used to take him on car rides. That was kind a funny to pull next to someone at a traffic light and see the expressions on someone's face when they realized what they were looking at.....We had to sell the van, alpaca's shit constantly and I couldn't get the stench out a the f'n vehicle. Sold it in winter when the smell wasn't so bad.

I'd love for some other idiot to take the pair off my hands, but I don't wear the pants in my family.

In addition to the dogs & cats we have over twenty tarantulas of eight or nine different species. Not the most cuddly critters but damn interesting & some of them are quite beautiful. I also have a family member working me to take a Bearded Dragon and that may just happen. All of the above eat crickets so WTH...

My skin is crawling i hate spiders.
Growing up we had 2 cats, a dog ,and a coon. my parents animals live forever it's so weird we had the raccoon for 16 years, dog for almost 19,1 cat for 22, and the other cat is still alive at 19. I think it's because my parents feed them meat instead of processed foods.
We used to give our raccoon a bunch of pad locks and keys to play with and one of those kid toys were you put the shapes in the hole.
If i didn't tour so much i would get a lizard again i had a chinese water dragon that was so cute.

My SO is actually the collector, and she got into when she took an arachnids class at school and was given her first sling (spiderling) at the end of the semester. My point is that she took the class to get over her arachnophobia...so maybe you just need to come by for an evening or three! You could lose your fear and she...well...she likes girls too! ;-)

The tarantulas are fun to watch eat their crickets. Unlike the lizards who just gobble them down, the spiders rip chunks out of them and swallow them piece by piece. Some of the varieties are quite beautiful.
