BCS is growing

...but it seems as there is not enough providers.
I know some of the few we had here in town are either retired
Or moved out. I'm fairly new to the hobby (a couple BP meet ups)
But id love to see more ladies in town!

Metro area populations as of 2010 census, metro area not just city limits, as posted on wikipedia:

Bryan-College Station: 229,000
Waco: 235,000
Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood: 405,000
And, for comparison, Austin: 1,250,000

So BCS is 20% the size of Austin, and just about the size of Waco, metro area comparisons. More than half the size of Killeen metro.

However, BCS is not on the highway between DFW and Austin, as are Waco and Killeen. We are nowhere near as close to Austin as is Killeen. Finally, Killeen has a big population of potential demand in Fort Hood. (BCS does have Texas A&M University, as much as 50,000 of its population figure, but I have long wondered at the percentage of students who hobby. I suspect it is lower than the percent in the overall male population ....)

For whatever reason, it is clear that while we have 20% of the population of Austin we do not have anywhere near 20% of the providers available in Austin. (At least not on Eccie or P411 -- I can't say about Backpage or about streetwalkers or UTR or others).

Probably there is a minimum population size needed to maintain the anonymity and comfort of a locally-based provider. Maybe BCS is too small for that. There is also a minimum number of locally-based providers needed to satisfy the client desire for variety. It may just be that BCS is too small to support/hide enough providers who also provide a sufficiently large number of providers that clients can find sufficent variety among the types they seek.

We also have a more religious and probably a more conservative population than Austin, and this may imply a lower per-capita demand. However, I am not completely convinced of this line of arguement, as I suspect many of the self-proclaimed religious are actually as likely to be clients as those who self-identify as non-religious.

Personally, I play in Austin, for personal reasons. I freely admit that Houston may be an even better alternative in terms of variety of providers and distance from BCS. In either case, traveling is costly in time, but I justify any time costs as a tradeoff with my lower daily commuting time. I also try to see the occassional visitor to BCS, but this rarely works out, largely because I need advance notice, I am picky, and visiting providers seldom provide sufficient notice of their schedule.

My advice to local hobbyists? Look at Houston, look at Austin, and pay attention to the random visitor who catches your eye.

The other side of that coin is simply this. Seems there aren't enough hobbyist in B/CS or at least not enough hobbyist in B/CS who actually hobby THERE to support the ECCIE ladies. (In a supply /demand economy, this argument is that the demand is simply not there to justify an increase in supply)

There are plenty of ladies willing to come to B/CS, as evidenced above. In the 8 years I have been around this hobby (to include time as a moderator in both Austin and here) I have had ample opportunity to observe the situation in B/CS.

For years, I too, hobbied exclusively out of town, for fear/concern of being recognized. I find no fault with those who do. However, the fact remained, that for many years, not a single provider in Killeen benefitted financially by me being a hobbyist.

The biggest complaint I have heard over the years from the providers, is that the gents in B/CS (for that matter, Killeen and Waco as well), in general, will not pre-book. That makes it difficult for them to take the business risk of travelling so far to work. Another complaint is that a lot of gents there will say "come and see me" and then the gents either do not book, or they try and haggle over the price.

I know for a fact, that the reason a former teen porn star from Waco cancelled her first (and only) scheduled trip to BCS is the latter, one of the gents that said he would pre-book, would do so only if she gave him a $50 discount. She cancelled her impending trip and never went there.

Of the three metropolitan areas, Waco and B/CS have the worst reputation with the visiting providers.

From the guys point of view , the main complaint is that a lot of women TALK about visiting and then do not show up/follow up with the visit. The other complaint is that the women don't give the kinds of discounts they offer at home from time to time, when they travel out of town.

I really can’t blame the ladies for not visiting if they can’t be assured their out of pocket expenses are covered, much less come home with any bank.

Fair or not, in the smaller communities, each of us has a greater impact on one another in the hobby.

To me, the keys are to be frank and fair in our communications, to understand that "things happen", to treat one another with respect, to keep our commitments and to keep our minor inconveniences/differences between ourselves.

I love BCS, i travel there often...not enough prebooking or hobbyist that actually contact me when im in town. but if you guys would prebook or request i would love to come down and actually stat a stint as well.
