Veterans Day 2013
The first Global War, WWI, formally ended with the signing of the Armistice on 11 November 1918.
That war was the 5th deadliest conflict in the history of the world. Some 9 million combatants lost their lives.
The US began celebration of Armistice Day on 11 November 1919, to celebrate the event.
President, and former 5 Star General, Dwight D. Eisenhower ( a veteran of WWII, the deadliest conflict in world history), signed Veterans Day into law in 1954, expanding the holiday and renaming it Veterans Day.
Veterans Day, is now a day Americans pay tribute to all men and women who serve or have ever served in the U.S. military. A day we honor the sacrifices of time, blood or even life.
I wish to offer a crisp salute to all the men and women who have ever worn the uniform.
Thank you (both hobbyists and providers alike) for your service!
Respectfully,
OldSarge
