Funny, Maslo included sex in his hierarchy of needs and it is pretty high up on the pole. I suppose you haven't heard of Freud either. He wrote a number of books and took quite a bit of ridicule from people thinking sex doesn't play a huge role in our lives. Sadly, priests who take a vow of celibacy have ended up doing children often of their own sex because for a long time that was safer for them. The church even protected it until public outcry became great. There is an old saying, "women/men can't live with them and can't live without them!" There is some truth to that. Even the Spartans who isolated their soldiers from women found themselves doing Greek. The pun is intended. So while it seems as if many can give it up by choice, reality tells us that it isn't a choice but a need and that the need is controlled by the availability of resources. Also think about this. Drugs might be considered a want and not a need but to those whose bodies are addicted, it is a need and the need is broken only with great difficulty. Now drugs are not part of our nature. Those on them find that once started their body tells them it is a need. Imagine what would happen if someone passed a law against sex. Oooops! They have! Has it stopped the oldest profession? If you think sex is still a want, by all means go ahead. I'm going out and getting laid and I need a drink to make it nicer.

Very well said, heinz.

You may not have had a problem then, but perhaps, this has resulted in a problem now. Well, we are all insane to varying degrees.
If what is in blue is true, interestingly, this is another example where you transitioned from one extreme to another. From a "sucker" to a "hater".
Quite consistent.

So you need sex to live? I'm assuming since you feel you do then you also feel you are entitled to it as well?

It isn't the sex per se that is the need. It is the intimacy. When I first started my studies in psychology, the first experiments they exposed me to were the ones where the mothers of monkeys were real and fake. The ones that went insane first were the ones with the fake mothers that had no fur. With providers it is sort of like having fake intimacy but there is plenty of fur on the dolls to give some feeling of intimacy. We are all insane to some degree. I chose the GFE over having nothing and the ladies I spent time with weren't fake. As for the entitlement, nothingis free and another government program to deliver me sex wouldn't work. Besides, the government is shut down anyway. My ladies would not have been considered essential workers

I understand.... So I was right, sex is not a need its a want. It doesn't take sex or intimacy to live. It can however help in having a much happier life.
You're saying that without intimacy people would go insane. Buddy take a look around this site, there are many here getting more "intimacy" than both of us could probably handle and are about as insane as one can get. That goes for providers and hobbiests alike.

No obviously you do not need sex to live. You do, however, need it to ensure the future of your species so it is a de facto hard-wired need. As compared to shelter, which many would consider a need, it comes in second. You don't "need" shelter, but it's pretty important to protect you from the elements and predators, but you can procreate without shelter. Heinz and the schools of thought he brought up are valid, and white knighting Peaches accompanied by a short discussion about the secondary physiological, emotional and psychological needs for sex vs. sex for the survival of a species here on a SHMB are not going to change that.
People living celibate lives do so out of penance and only because of deeply rooted philosophical / religious beliefs or physical limitations. That's it. Even separation from the opposite sex isn't a deterrent from having sex. If Peaches wanted to live celibate and a virgin for the first thirty-two years of his life, so be it. It's a perfect example of what I was talking about, and it in no way demonstrates that sex isn't a need.

Actually...you don't need it to live, or to ensure the future of your species...I think that's been made obvious...

Artificial inclination cannot keep up with the population needs of a first world country let alone other countries and societies. So yes, sexual intercourse is required to ensure the survival of the species.
Sex is a need just as important as shelter. Take females away from males and you get violence. That's just the way it is. We could debate this point in your kindergartenese, but species survival is mathematically dependent upon reproducing the old fashioned way.

Still here? So you went 32 years without. Obviously you are still holding a grudge over that and you don't think much of providers. That is OK. I know how it feels to have just a few males take up harems and leave me out. Fortunately there are providers able to give me what I NEED. I don't think I am alone in males desiring a sex life. You should have seen the physical condition of those poor monkeys deprived of imtimacy and closeness. Yes, they got sick and DIED. People do need sex to live. Human males are not unlike other animals in the notion that they are having sex just for pleasure. In other animals they don't make the connection between ensuring the species continues and pleasure. Humans have. Infact, humans have made the connection between sex and disease. The result has been no BBFS. However, the opposite of what you say has been made clear. The inate drive to live better and to perpetuate the species cannot be rationalized away. If a stray male lion has sex with a female that has strayed some from the dominent male's harem, I'm sure he isn't thinking she is a whore and somehow less of a female. Nature is what it is. In nature, females do what they need to do to insure the best quality offspring. The males are driven to produce the most offspring possible. It isn't nearly as simple as you alledge. Some females have taken advantage of the fact that intimacy and sex are a resource in short supply to males. They use this to increase the quality of their lives. Often, providers are in touch with their own sexuality and enjoy the sexuality. That is the way it should be. To me the whores are the ones that just like the way a man looks at a party and beds him down with no money or material gain. Sugar Babes gain materially but don't make the attachment of sex for material things. They aren't whores. Providers realize there is a NEED for who they are. What they do benefits both parties. If you go without food and water, it still takes time for you to die. Don't be naive about sex and the sex drive. It isn't like alcohol where you can simply not drink. Clergy that chooses celebacy are hardly in a position to counsel their flock dealing with problems of marriage and sexual intricacies. So go ahead and think you can live without sex, with no effect and that when you choose to partake it isn't based on an inate drive. The women here DESERVE dignity. When you don't give them that in a way you are showing little dignity for yourself. Maybe I am wrong but that is how I have been reading your posts WAKEUP. It is nothing personal. I have my own shortcomings and age plus my physical condition affects who I am. I'm not 100% well. However, it does me no good to degrade others. Kindness helps sustain me!
