There was no shifting of responsibility. The cops were responsible for not doing something stupid from the moment they entered the room of a 95 year old invalid. Cops aren't supposed to treat small children and the very elderly the same way they do able-bodied adults. They fucked it up royally.

Some cranky, senile old man gave them lip and maybe swung his cane (in slow motion, no doubt) and some steroid-laced bully decided to assert his "aw-thaw-itay" will a beanbag from a shot gun. He was so frail the bean bag ruptured his internal organs and killed him. THAT is how weak and frail this old man was. The most dangerous thing about that old man was the contents of his diaper.

And yet, the idiot cop could not just reach out and grab the cane? Is that what I am supposed to believe?

He took care of her and her mother for 30 years. I think she qualifies as "off-spring" even if she doesn't literally meet the definition.

It is kind of difficult to evaluate it before it occurs, don't you agree?

When else are we supposed to evaluate a police action? Was there a point to this?

Oh, but I DO have the facts, don't I? He was 95 years old, sufficiently feeble that he has to be put in a nursing home, required a walker and/or cane to get around, and, oh yeah, was so frail a bean bag ruptured his guts and he bled to death.

Or do you dispute any of those facts?

Now on the OTHER hand, what possible facts can the police introduce to justify using force on him? If he has a gun, I would say THAT was more then sufficient to justify using bullets on him, not just a bean bag. But the cops haven't even hinted at that, have they?

No, apparently threatening them with his cane is the best they can do.

Oh is that what this is? You think I blame the cops because I'm trying to be a bad ass outlaw so I can get a discount?

Really?

It couldn't possibly be because I find it horrific the way the old man died?

You got it wrong, again.

If he points a gun at officers, no taser, gun.

If he starts swinging cane at officers (or other "public servants"), taser.

It's not about "pussy" ... it's about assault/aggravated assault on a "public servant" ...

.. and the appropriate defensive response to the crime and circumstance ...

At least in Texas ....

"....the offense is a felony of the third degree if:....against a person the actor knows is a public servant while the public servant is lawfully discharging an official duty, ......

.. if he uses a "deadly weapon" (see definition) .. ( a sock can be a deadly weapon) ..

... it's a first degree felony.

You have short term memory ... aka .. Zimmerman/Martin.

I think it is terrible that he died.

Statistically speaking I doubt many die from being shot with a bean bag ...

... or a taser ... or pepper spray ...

Those are all considered non-lethal responses .. it is unusual when someone dies from them.

Unusual in that there is about one per week on average.

45 year old Suspect dies when police shoot him with bean bag round

Anaheim police kill unarmed man with bean bag bullet, and injure women and children

Los Angelos Police kill local man during riot with bean bag bullet

I know I could find many more of these where people died from bean bag bullets, either being shot in the face, or up close to the gut, or point blank in the head. All you have to do is a google search. You come up with a lot of hits for this, and many reports.

Oh I forgot to add this: A bean bag round can severely injure or kill in a wide variety of ways. They have caused around a death a year since their introduction in the U.S.[2] A round can hit the chest, break the ribs and send the broken ribs into the heart. A shot to the head can break the nose, crush the larynx or even break the neck or skull of the subject. This is why many officers are taught to aim for the extremities when using a bean bag round. A strike in the abdominal area can cause internal bleeding or strike the solar plexus which can disrupt breathing or heartbeat, but such a hit is generally safer than most other areas as well as presenting a larger target than an extremity. Fatalities are occasionally the result of mistaking other shotgun rounds for bean bags.[2] Activist Scott Olsen was struck in the head by a less lethal bean bag round, fired by a SWAT team member from the Oakland Police Department; he was incapacitated by the round, Olsen's skull was fractured by the round and his speech was impaired.[3]
In 2013 in Park Forest, IL, an autopsy showed that a 95 year man had died from hemoperitoneum as a result of being shot by police with a bean bag gun. Wiki link source

Well .... until you come up with at least 52 DIFFERENT cases each year ... I call bullshit.

That would be roughly 32+ cases just this year.

And it appears that 2 of your stories are the same story .... "Anaheim" ... and a "rubber" bullet was involved.

is your goal now to have someone google and find 52 different cases each year?

There would be many more deaths from bean bags if all officers used as poor a judgement as these and shot 95 yeal old folks. That is why they should be fired or demoted to some shit cleaning detail.

LL is deflecting from the fact that the man was 95 and had a cane. Every shithole cop could claim self defense with a 95 year old as most folks that old use a god damn cane. Unless the guy had a gun the officers should be fired imho.

Yes , if you have to taser a 95 year old man and then shoot him with bean bag gun you are a pussy , idiot and retard all rolled into one.

Only if they claim there is an average of one death a week from police firing bean bags.

Particularly when they cite one in 2013 and one in 2012.

Although I realize that being required to produce facts in here is a "rule violation" for some.

And how many 95-year-olds wielding a cane and a butcher knife have you "taken down"?
