I'm not sure of the exact origin of the phrase "sugarbritches," but it's generally used in the south as a term of affection, although you have to be careful who you use it with, and who you use it in front of. It implies that there's "sugar" to be had in those (usually quite attractive or tight) britches and that you yourself may have had some of that sugar or at least have some rightful expectation of it. Not the sort of term of endearment you want to use on a teenage first date in front of her father, for example. Sometimes used in a very playful sense. (Any other entomology or connotation type information quite welcome. Please chime in.)

I think most here (including UTR.DJinDallas above) have hit on the critical element. There are more respectful ways to use terms such as "Sugar," "Miss," etc. and there are less respectful way (and flat out disrespectful ways), etc. Unless one is incredibly socially inept, sincerity and respect come across. So do condesension and being an asshole.

I do not know where you thought anyone judged Sugar Taint, aka Samantha, as being snooty or uppity. Granted I was knocked silly yesterday but I fail to see any reference of uppitiness or snootiness. My quest for the liberation of taint is well known.
