When I was growing up, my dad would always take us to games when Don Wilson, Larry Dierker, Don Wilson, Ken Forsch or Joe Niekro pitch - which they would normally win or be competitive. We caught a lot of JR Richards games which were really something.
You could also cheer for Caesar Cedeno, Bob Watson, Lee May, or see Roger Metsger vacuum everything up that was hit around him.
Who can you cheer for now?

This years $20 million payroll is too extreme and cannot be called rebuilding - more like just giving up and playing the games because they have to with whoever is cheap enough.
Just another business in Crane Mega Conglomerant, Inc. Pay down the debt over the first five years, then when the team starts to improve the "bandwagon" fans and media will welcome them back. Crane can then sell more limited partner shares and make a huge ROA on his original business.
The tax payers and HCSA must have given him such a sweat deal that he can plan on losing like this and still have some cash flow with pathetic attendance around 15,000 (end of year will be even worse).
I wish someone had the balls to ask him if he ran all of his businesses like this. If real estate, the Astros would be a slum and Crane a slum lord. If a provider, would be a male crack whore.
