I would attend a gathering IF it was invite only, the location was kept private until the last minute, and everyone was screened. To get a good list going, it's imperative to have a panel of hosts/hostesses who can vouch for everyone on the list. There is no room for error. If information is leaked out, the responsible parties need to be removed immediately for putting everyone at risk.

Agreed on invite only. Was never my intention otherwise.

Location secret until the last minute. Is good also, excepting any pers on on the panel. Enough trusted panel members must know the location ahead of time so they can assure others it is safe.

I've always had mixed feelings on these things. Some people on here, like knottyman, have been nice enough to try to invite me, but like I said, I'm always waffling on the idea. And sometimes I've been up for it but just way too busy to attend.

Tbh, I think I flip-flop because I always have one foot in the hobby, one foot out the hobby. There are some cool people on here that I wouldn't mind meeting, but I try not to get too caught up in all the drama and BS of this world.

Now, hot UTR pootang has always been kryptonite for me, so if meeting UTRs at these things is common, then yeah I wouldn't mind that. But if the socials are just an attempt to audition yourself for a future $200 hr shindig, that takes away the fun to me.

Yeah just chiming in on the issue of security being of the utmost importance to these things.

One way to help with that issue is to make sure everyone who attends is either extremely well established on the board or to make sure they're someone who has been met in real life and thus confirmed to not be LE.

While this may exclude more reclusive or newer members, I think it's a necessary evil in order to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

I fully agree with safety and security being of utmost importance to attendees.

As to who would be considered to be too new to the board to be considered is a hard question to answer. But to try I would say that at least one verified provider would need to certify that they are indeed real.

A quiet cocktail party to start with and go from there. The group can have some non-descriptive name (Friends of Lincoln) at a bar or restaurant with a private room.

I have been going to meet & greets in the Houston area for over 10 years. For the most part they have all been a lot of fun. I have met some great guys and girls who went on to be some of my best friends. As far as being busted, as long as there is no talk of services and fees there is nothing at all illegal about meeting and greeting and having drinks with each other. In all the years I went to parties only one was busted, well sort of. The police had so little to go on that almost everyone was allowed to leave without so much as a search for warrants. Only a few who were illegals were arrested. I do not believe anyone was charged at all. Turned out to be a big waste of police money.

Only around election time will there be any heat.Houston, SA, Dallas and Austin parties were all fun. The first M&G does not have to be a big affair just a private room in a bar with every one buying there own food and drinks. I don't see the ladies buying as most of us don't mind charming a woman with a drink.
