Default New York taxes among highest in the nation in almost every category

http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.s..._river_default

I guess the bright side is that we lead the nation in something!!!!

From the article.

Here's a sample of where New York ranks:

Total state and local taxes per person, as a percentage of state income: 1
Gasoline taxes: 1
Cigarette taxes: 1
State income tax collections per person: 1
State and local income tax collections per person: 1
State and local corporate taxes per person: 2
State and local cell phone taxes: 3
State and local revenues per person: 3
State and local tax revenues per person: 3
State and local property taxes per person: 5
Lottery revenues per person: 5
State and local sales taxes: 7
State tax collections per person: 9

Despite all of those taxes, New York ranks No. 1 in state and local debt per person.

Well someone has to pay for all that infrastructure and such that the Wall St. tycoons use and don't pay for since they can hide all their wealth offshore or declare that it is not income like us working stiffs do. They have to get you schmucks to pay for it so they can have legions of minions transported across NYC to Manhattan to put the shekels in their pockets now don't they?

At least you aren't last in so many categories like education and health like we are here in (No) Taxass

This is why people and businesses are leaving NYS. Quite a few of the places I have worked at in the Greater Rochester area that were bought by or merged with other companies no longer have any presense here (at the cost of several dozen to several hundred jobs for each company that left). Monroe County, NY (where I live) that covers Rochester, NY (the third largest city in NY) and several suburban areas. Is always in the top 6 (usually 1 or 2) for any listing of areas with the highest Property Taxes. And the County Government always makes a big deal out of how they "Haven't raised our Property Taxes in X number of Years" every election season. But there have been plenty of "Property Tax Reaccessments" done.

So you're blaming Wall St for how poorly managed NYS has been for quite a long time.

Yea but Wall St is such an easy target because everyone hates them so you can blame Wall St for just about everything.

Frankly so would I. There seems to be considerably more Providers in Texas (Yes, its a bigger state) than NYS (at least western NY). And considerably more Economic opportunity for anyone residing there (Yes, I have been to Texas). And no State Income Tax.

Wall St can and should take the blame for most everything because it's the banking and financial systems that are at the core of most of the world's problems.

The tough step is extending the blame to all the greedy bastards that use Wall St to finance their homes, pools, vacations, extra homes, hobbies, girlfriends, etc. When it comes to Wall St, we are all so fucking filthy. Me too, 401k, Roth IRA, I'm a peasant compared with most here but I won't say these things and exclude my college-educated American self.
