Google Fiber
It's in Kansas City now, so who has gotten it?
https://fiber.google.com/about/
I've read about it and seen all the good stuff it can do. It's a whole lot cheaper than Time Warner.
And you get a Nexus 7 for your remote control...sweet!

Wish I could get it, but the areas where it is available are somewhat limited.

I saw that too.
You might want to sign up on their email list.
They will be constructing North & South of KC this summer.

My TWC bill is $34.99 for 10mb and i'm not a new customer. I use an ATA to make phone calls and i download all my cable content.
Yea, can't wait to try that free 5mb internet. I'm 5 miles off their current map and 5 miles from where ATT offers their dsl for $15-20

I have SurWest.. now that they came South.. at (150 a month for everything)
I should have stayed with my last Provider... this is a true story. (125 at three thing's)
She was faster and sometimes easy to get a discount with.
Sometimes she would go down in bad weather and leave me alone making me sad.
But then all of a sudden she would come back, with a little for play. (reboot)
So guys don't leave a good Provider... even if she up-sell's you a little. LOL
Damn we were talking about cable companies Sorry my bad...

I live in Prairie Village so I don't see me getting it anytime soon. I'm satisfied with Road Runner. It serves my needs just fine.

My fiberhood is scheduled for "spring 2013"....so I should hook up pretty soon. My buddy already has it and loves it. They only have the internet service, no cable. They just watch everything on-line and find that they don't need to pay for cable. Hulu +, Netflix, ect.
He has two teenage girls at home and his wife. All four can be online at the same time and can be streaming videos to watch. Shit is crazy fast and there is absolutely no lag. I don't need to watch 4 movies at once, I just want to look at porn faster....so Google Fiber it is.

This is a change then. Originally they would only do "full service", no parts - how much for Internet only?

$70.00 per month for one gig internet service. $120.00 per month for internet + cable.

$70 a month is high if you are paying less than $30 but then you are getting Gigabit speed. Google is offering 5Mbps service for FREE, you pay a one time $300 construction fee OR $25 a month for 1 year. You are guaranteed the free service for 7 years.

Hum, originally the fee was standard and the monthly fee was still there. Looks like they are learning the game as they go. ATT did not think about Uverse lite until Google came to town ----- competition does make a difference is some markets!
Not sure what is gained by the gig however.......if it is just internet? I remember the dial up days.....
