Is that to say you regret yours?

I'm sure if I had a lot of ink on my body, I would have regretted it by now. Fortunately, I don't have any.

I say if you want it and like it go for it. I dress Rockabilly and metal so bold professional makeup (metallic eyeshadow and all), fishnets, heels, dresses and skirts are choices at least 3 days a week. I have a tat on my leg, a tat on my foot, a sun tat, and small jeweled facial piercings. I get stopped and talked to about them all the time in the civie world. I tone it down for no one, I mean, I'm not the girl next door unless you live next door to me. I don't get treated badly or disrespected. I was in a management position in a strict corporation for 6 years and wasn't treated differently or discriminated against. Then again, I don't have a sleeve. I would personally say maybe go with a half or quarter sleeve that you can cover. Women can't get away with facial, neck, or hand tattoos like men. As far as explaining it to grandkids, tell them you were/are a bad ass independent chick that stays true to herself that doesn't give a damn what others think about her.

A good person to talk with about something like this is a professional tattoo artist.

I only eat dolphin safe tuna...sad when they get caught in the nets. Save the whales!

I would love to see you with a sleeve tattoo! I think well done and thought out tattoos are sexy as hell! Getting inked is addictive as I'm sure you are already aware. I'm always thinking about what I should get next, even before the ink is dry and the needle laid down. My own thoughts regarding tattoos is that you should keep them below the neck keeping your hands and face untouched. That way you can wear long sleeves and no one would know you have ink. Ultimately the choice is yours but if you are counting votes, I say go for it. I've got the name and shop of an excellent artist in the Albany Area who would be glad to talk with you about it.

I never understood this thought process. If you have it, be proud of it and don't hide it. To me, hiding it is being a hypocrite. If you feel you have to hide it, then why get it in the first place?

I think that people don't wish to hide it, their employers make them, I agree with you though, if you feel the need YOU need to hide it then it probably wasn't the right choice for them

Everyone on here has made very good points!

There is a time and place for everything. It could be a business situation where an employer does not want tattoos showing for whatever reason or it could be a family or social situation i.e.: wedding, funeral etc where your tattoos may make others uncomfortable or you may just want to go low profile.

I own a tuxedo and I enjoy wearing it but I wouldn't wear it to work or my mom's birthday party or a funeral. It's about options.
