I find those, to be much more interesting questions.
Skanks attract trash. . . it happens.

I've had more than one provider allude to this out of the blue and I know that one pair had never spoken to each other. I don't have a dog in this fight but I do know what I've been told directly and it wasn't very flattering.

It's business 101 to them it seems, that a person that has been given a position of trust amongst thieves, so to speak, can make or break them if they were to come forward. Which also raises the valid question, who really police's the police??? It is preached to everyone on this site. Screen if your a provider, do your research if a hobbyist. In light of recent events, seems like the powers that be can, and should take their own advise on this matter to hopefully avoid any future misuse of ones position in the community...JMHO

willing members should police the police. A wise mod would turn her down so as to not in-power her over him. Provider in turn should do the same.

A wise local community should keep there mod in fear of the local community.
Once upon a time a Upset NY member moved to NYC. Then became a Upset mod to be trained to become a NYC mod later. He acted as he was given a pot of gold. He was deleted by the members. Not the mods. The other mods and members did try to show him the error of his ways first.
edit add: try to not use the RTM when the game is in play. RTM can be your friend. But not during the game.

Actually I threw that in because of Mr Giz's comment on who's getting together to stoke this fire when that isn't the case.

Full disclosure here.........I am not a modtard of a specific geographical area of the board.......but, I do have access to modtardville and all the bells and whistles that go with it.........I say that because you have the right to know that I could be construed to be the "police" for the purpose of this conversation......although, I will say that I have always viewed myself as more of a janitor.
It has not always been the case (being a janitor). For the most part, I participate in Houston (even though I travel extensively)......I have pages of points and multiple bans on this board where I went toe-to-toe with a Houston modtard. Because, I deemed it the right thing to do........at times I have been most uncivil.
But, you (local community) scream for civility........"we don't want the kind of forum you have in Houston".......you cry out for police action to quell the drama.......you demand action against those who bring chaos........you call for police action.......and you get it.
So, now you sit here as a community with a 4ton policeman in the room and wonder what the fuck happened........I'll tell you what happened.........you happened.
............and some of you want the hooktards to clean up your little mess........heh

A fucktard who receives abuse from a modtard can for the most part shrug it off and still participate in the ECCIE community.......a hooktard is different matter........you ask much of a hooktard, when you ask her to come into this thread and bare herself to everything that could go wrong for her if the status quo remains in place......you are asking her to commit ECCIE suicide......she is labeled in many ways that are to her detriment going forward.
You (local community) create the monster that may dwell among you by placing him on a pedestal. You allow him to reinvent himself without question. You stand as centurions when someone questions his behavior.
The hooktards know who and what is among you........they have watched you unwittingly protect each other to their demise for some time........why should they fall on their swords for you now?

I am unaware that anyone has been asked to do anything. The purpose of this thread was to pose questions concerning right and wrong when unethical practices happen. Perhaps you refer to someone else, but since you used my name I will assume you mean me. I have no battle that I am asking anyone to fight for me any more than this community has knowingly placed a predator on a pedestal. I agree that if someone has been wronged they have suffered enough. They should not have to come forward, it should be sufficient that a number of the community are aware of the situation, and warn any new providers seeking verification who to watch out for. It is not perfect but it is a start.

I think no one person in particular is stoking a fire, but when something is said, people
start talking and comparing notes...I've heard things like you have Hogfan, it's a catch 22 in ways...I have no reason to doubt them, but have no way to prove it. But when you sit back and look at it, there's something possibly to it, and things can come to a head when something goes wrong, such as many of the reasons already listed. There's always one person in every crowd you don't want to piss off...maybe the case here. This should definitely be a learning experience for us all regardless of the outcome

Shining a light on a situation is the first step to correcting it. If we educate our community about what a moderator should and should not ask a provider to do we make it more difficult for them to be abused. If a new provider knows she does not have to service anyone for free to get verified, when she is asked she will know that the request is inappropriate. The initial isolation of new providers by provider and hobbyist alike makes them easy targets for the unscrupled. Removing the monster is just one solution. The rest is that the community should choose its moderator from among those trusted by hobbyist and provider alike.

It is always helpful when the necessarily ambiguous is explained by the deliberately cryptic.
