If you're famous and are providing (or a client), you better expect to be found out.

Heck, even if you're not famous, there's a risk to being found out. One thing you find out about being on the boards for a while is how often people get caught, and the "unlikely" coincidences that get you caught. Of course, if you do something stupid, it's even more likely.

I suspect this particular lady was only getting $600 because of her fame, whether she advertised it somehow or someone recognized her and word of mouth spread the word.

I get a real laugh over the "psychologist" bit. Sort of like a criminal pleading insanity.

I don't get a laugh out of that, but then I never really understood why people thought that Gallagher was funny, either.

Untreated mental illness can have a lot to do with people getting entangled in the criminal justice system. Happens all the time, but it doesn't usually absolve anyone from responsibility for anything they've actually done, unless they were really out of it at the time.

People do all kinds of bizarre things because they're depressed and in despair. Like watching Gallagher, for example. Just a theory.

And I'm not qualified to psychoanalyze why she started providing in the first place, much less why she felt compelled to tell her clients who she was. But it sure sounds like sensation-seeking.

I don't think there was any financial need. She seemed very well off. Maybe she was just too busy or uninterested in taking care of herself and getting the help she needed.

Or maybe she was just naturally horny and at the sexual peak of her life, and so she wanted to fuck a lot of guys. Maybe her husband had gotten bored with the whole trophy wife thing, and so she just wanted a little attention, from someone who would appreciate her.

Depressed or not, she won't be working with kids anymore, and her promotional work will probably all dry up. It's bound to put a lot more tension on her marriage, too.

And all because she got caught letting some guys put their ding-dangles into her snicker-doodle. Seems a lot less destructive than Gallagher smashing watermelons. Just a theory.

Oh, boo-hoo. "I'm famous, I got caught doing something that hurts my celebrity status, therefore it's a psychological problem, not a "real" character flaw. Maybe I can milk my psychological problem and enhance my celebrity status."

Let's see how long before she's "writing" a book, doing magazine articles, talk shows, etc. and being an even bigger media whore than before.

There may be a "real character flaw", whatever that means. There isn't exactly a universal standard for character.

But even if there is a character flaw, that doesn't mean there isn't also a psychological problem. Let's see, history of eating disorder and anxiety, bipolar brother who committed suicide, treated for depression with Zoloft. She's not exactly pulling that card out of thin air, is she?

And you're probably right about magazine articles and talk shows, but I don't see a book deal from a major publisher. She never actually won a medal, so she's really not all that famous. And the book industry is in decline.

Old farts like us who still get titillated by a story like that are either too busy for pleasure reading or have macular degeneration. Young people only read vampire romances and post-apocalyptic warfare romances. Maybe some zombie things, too.

Well, maybe that's just the extent of my curiosity about what young people read these days.
