how about something in downtown, westport, or plaza area?
or up in north kc along armour rd or anywhere along chouteau trfcwy?
those are the areas where i usually stay when in your fair city..
i've been to jack stack's - good but rather pricey. and not so down-home style.
prefer beef or turkey, sausages as well.
ss4469, you posted...
I have done BBQ in Texas and other than one place by the Ft Worth Nascar track it was pretty bad.
those are fighting words!!!! :^)
seriously, there is some great bbq in texas, mainly in central texas but also up here in dallas and fw. dickey's [a chain] has some consistently delicious bbq, imho.
let me know if you head this way again and i'll rustle up some suggestions.
also, for us out-of-towners, an address, ph#, and/or a website addr would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!

ms. rain, there are much, Much, MUCH better mexican restaurants here than pancho's buffet. let me know the next time you head here and i'll pass along some suggestions. either mamacita's/papa's or chains.
in kansas city, i've been to these great down-home tex-mex style restaurants.
El Pueblito on 810 Southwest Boulevard [just s. of the I-35 overpass] KC, MO (816) 471-5442
Rudy's Tenampa Taqueria on 1611 Westport Road [e. of state line rd.] KC, MO (816) 931-9700 http://www.rudystenampa.com
this one is ok, more informal, almost fast-food
El Rancho on 4081 Mill Street, KC, MO [westport]

[QUOTE=ss4699;1051907689]One of the big things about any bbq is the process of the oven itself. It has to temper out and that can take a while, or so I have been told. When Arthur Bryants went into the Legend's it was awful....it had not been going long enough for the flavor to reach its max. Well that is what I have been told any way. QUOTE]
You hit it on the head. It takes years to cure the pit and give the meat a better flavor. When Bryants went into the Legends and the casino, they were well below par.
