How did Indys operate before the internet ?

Word of mouth was the greatest resource. Often there would be 'hangouts' that you were told that if you were looking for that sort of thing you would just go to these hangouts, usually a bar attached to a hotel. The hotel was typically not frequented by travellers per se. Some of these hangouts would get a rap to be a biker hangout too but in most cases that was false. Bikers might be seen there but they were looking for the same thing.
