First, al-Qaeda and the Taliban are 2 separate entities.

Second, he didn't say the Taliban were wiped off the face of the earth. I wish they were. I wish "shock and awe" had worked, but it didn't.

WW- what part of Afghanistan does the Taliban control? When the Taliban were in power there were zero girls going to school- women could not leave their homes without the escort of a man- the Burqua was mandatory. There are well over 5000 taliban in prison and countless others who have been killed.
Of course the Taliban still have isolated attacks here and there- they even have them in remote regions of Pakistan.
Obama would be lying if the Taliban were controlling major cities- the Taliban only control remote areas that are tribal and never had any law structure. So Obama was not being mislead- there are some 300,000 trained Afghan troops- it's estimate the taliban has about 10,000 followers and they are armed with K-47's and RPG's and IED's- even when NATO nd U.S start to exit- it would be a very tough job for the Taliban to defeat an army of 300,000 who are equipped with tanks, helicopters and soon to be air force.
When the Taliban plants IED's or randomly execute people how can you assume they re emerging?
Post a link where the Taliban overpowers the afghan military or takes over a major city.

I try to stay away from extreme right and extreme left websites. Both attack the other side and fail to the see the faults of their side. My question has always been - why are we the only 1st world, modernized country with only two parties to choose from? That being said, I don't think this country will progress until the extreme right and left come together.
