Anybody want to shake things up?

The Rock's new movie, "San Andreas," is quaking into theaters Friday, with early previews at some movie houses on Thursday. California crumbles. Did so financially under bodybuilder Schwarzenegger, so maybe bodacious bulked-up wrestler Dwayne Johnson can salvage something.

I love disaster flicks, the more outlandish, the merrier. If you care about plots, go mull the Oscar awards section at the rental store. Yawn.

"2012" had pretty amazing special effects, but this movie should outdo them. Will make 1974's "Earthquake" look like Lego logs falling over.

Thursday is my 8th anniversary as Fancy, and I want to spend it with the earth moving. Could be in a bed, yes, but foreplay could start in a 3D/IMAX theater with "motion" seats that react to the movie. AWESOME!

Really, who else likes a good disaster tale? Any old favorites? Irwin Allen productions come to mind. Bad movies, camp city, but cinematic culture will not forget "The Poseidon Adventure." Been remade at least 3 times that I know of, for movie audiences with Kurt Russel, direct-to-video, and for Sy Fy.

What's the best theater in the Houston area with the latest and greatest of movie-viewing technology in which to enjoy this epic of destruction?

Your close to Tinseltown fancy, I'm sure they'll have several options to watch it in. I'm not a big fan of the disaster flicks but I would go see this one just to watch the extremely hot milf Carla Gugino. I swear those puppies of hers get bigger every time I see her in something. Maybe lots of gratuitous shaking of her cleavage as she dodges boulders and falling buildings.

Do they really have rumble seats? I like "the towering inferno" as far as old ones go. Newer ones hmm I liked Armageddon, and that one with Stallone when he gets trapped in the tunnel with convicts and a rock climber. Can't remember the name.

"Independence Day 2," WITHOUT Will Smith, won't make it to theaters until June 2016. Not thrilled, either. I liked the original, and think it should have been left a stand-alone classic.

Adam's Sander's new flick, "Pixels," about aliens using versions of our classic video games to invade, will be out this July. Actually looks amusing. Nice poster ad campaign.

Dbox sets are fun - they aren't super shaky - but they add. U really have to see a movie that involves vehicles to get the full experience.

I looked for motion seats in Houston but they are out in the boonies none in the city. Makes me think it may suck if they haven't even made it inside the beltway yet? Still I'd like to at least try it.

Pixels I will wait for the blue ray. It would be kinda cool to see yar's revenge on the big screen but if they put some characters from the NES era on there I would be more into it. Double dragon, mega man, castlevainia, contra, battle toads, solid snake. All better characters but I guess Atari is much cheaper to buy rights to.

Los Angeles has been tanked so many times in the movies by every conceivable process -- volcano, earthquake, tsunami, tornado, meteor, black hole, alien invasion, plague, zombie apocalypse, demons, dinosaurs on the rampage -- that I've lost count. Hollywood loves whacking itself.

Okay, I saw "San Andreas" at the Santikos Silverado in 3-D plus D-Box motion. Not that impressive (my bed shakes with wilder passion), and way too expensive at $18 per ticket. The flick itself, heavy sigh, didn't do much for me. I'd say regular seat matinee fare at best.

My ATF disaster tale "2012" had a more interesting story, more engaging characters, and grander over-the-top effects.
