I have read on numerous ads on bp that "the minimum is x" or "it starts at" I know that escorts arent the smartest people in the world but letting people know they are going to try to get more out of you doesnt make much business sense either.

Some providers charge by time only (all you can eat?) whereas others provide services ala carte. Some providers set rates depending on geographical areas where services are provided (NYC, LA/SF higher than say Duluth?). These are some of the reasons that donations "start at" X, and might go up (rarely down) from there.

Your comment, "I know escorts aren't the smartest people in the world" ... can be challenged. Not only are some extremely smart (academic over achievers and RW professionals to boot), but on the whole Trees would suggest that the accumulated "street smarts" of providers is formidable. Underestimate their intelligence at your own risk.

Your comment "does not make much business sense" is also specious largely unsupportable claim too. Most service providers will charge different clients different amounts, depending on variety of factors. Take away that flexibility (adds predictability sure) but would also reduce opportunities for profits and windfalls on the upside, and hedging on the down-sides of this (and every?) service biz.

One of the reasons that providers (including many ECCIE providers) use BP is because its easier to "catch a whale" there. Chances of getting an unsophisticated, uninformed client that will pay say $500, is much higher than it is among ECCIE hobbyists who are more informed. To suggest that this is due to their being stupid or having no business sense makes none.

Wouldn't you have a minimum amount that you required to feel comfortable pleasing a stranger?

You're right, should not tell you. They should just use the same model used at stealerships, realtors, electronics retailers, etc, etc. You know, you see something you like and some general pricing around it. Then you get there and see that was just the pic, the base model/feature. To touch, feel, play, and get more... will cost you more.

I do it for the same reasons Shayla outlined earlier--THE MONEY IS TOO DARN GOOD TO PASS UP. It's the reason intelligent people do it. Plus, isn't the rule that to be smart, you also need to be a nympho? (Or is it the other way around?) Either way...Just saying...
