Where to go? Where to stay?

I am contemplating a visit through the south within the next few weeks and was wondering if anyone has tips on best places to stay in Lake Charles or New Orleans?

I would love to let you stay at my place lol. But I would suggest asking some of the local providers or those that travel here often. DallasRain & SknyDiva or a couple that are on here that maybe able to help more.

stay away from Sheraton on Canal Street...nosey staff

stay in lower garden district or warehouse/cbd/downtown areas

If ya book a hotel,check it out before booking....make sure it is convenient/discrete and a bigger hotel

{I just lost 150 bucks cause my son booked me a hotel without checking it out...It was too small & nosey...so I had to book another one}

parking is $$$ in French Quarter other than that I stay at hotel st marie,inn on bourbon,omni

All those things are true--but a lot of traveling women also stay in Metairie, since traffic & parking issues for clients aren't quite as bad.
