The article is about an attention whore getting surgery as some kind of payback to her ex-husband.

"Glanville says, “Eddie knows that he has never touched the ‘new’ me, and that gives me so much joy.” Whatever floats your boat.

But what disturbs me is the admission that doctors and women choose to remove their entire labia for a "neat and tidy look."

There's an interesting thread on here from a couple of days ago which discusses pubic hair, and how the younger generation will grow it back as push back against the denuded look that's been popularized today.

However, it might go the other way, with the younger generation choosing surgery to make the genital area look more like plastic.

The whole thing gives me the shivers. I love a woman's labia, and I know there are a lot of men who feel the same way. Like the anonymous guy in the article says, "I've never seen an ugly vagina."

Do any of you have any thoughts on this?

If my vagina ever looked like a sandwich from Arby's, I too would get surgery. This is a bit much to do for spite though...gosh.

I disagree with the guy in the article, as I have seen MANY ugly vaginas.

Women have been getting this done for awhile. Back when the Howard Stern show was on E! he had a lady who had this procedure along with her doctor talking about this. She was extremely insecure over her labia. The surgery was a success and she was happy with the outcome. The doctor went on to explain that many porn stars get this procedure done....
I personally don't have an unslightly labia. But if I did, I would be quite scared to have this procedure. Then again, your body -your choice. Choosing to have labia surgery is nothing compared to young women in certain countries being forced to undergo female genital mutilation, where they remove your clitoris or your clit AND labia. Crazy!

Hell, the people they're doing it to are children. It's right up there with human trafficking and rape as far as I'm concerned.

Has the rejuvenation thing being going on for a while? Obviously if they can surgically create a vagina for someone who used to be a man, it makes sense they can rebuild a woman's vagina, but it's not something I think a whole lot about.

And there certainly aren't any places I can bring it up in conversation, regardless of how curious I might be regarding what other people think.

I don't think it is ethical or even human to force genital mutilation on anyone, much less someone under 18...pathetic, but once again Religion, NOT spiritualism, rears its ugly head.

Shorty, no worries....I've had many guys suggest I start "stretching" my vagina out before they arrive, and refused. Can't fit..too fkin bad!

Well, it's not ethical to force women into isolated homes, labeling them as untouchables if their husband dies...kidnapping, raping them, and then forcing them to marry because they're no longer a virgin, and therefore no one will marry them...throwing acid in their face if they reject or resist an arranged marriage proposal...or heck, putting a bullet in the head of a 15 year old because she told people out loud that girls should be able to go to school.

It's not just religion. It's cultural.

Shoot, in the US, reproductive rights are being eroded all the time. In Texas, it's a law that a woman can't get an abortion without first watching an ultrasound.

But yeah, cutting out a little girl's clit is pretty fucking bad.

Many religions force circumcision of the genitals on both male and females, but yes, so do many cultures. Either way, it's absurd and should be criminal. You can't even get a tattoo in many places unless you're 18, and mutilation is just fine with some. Stupid.

Such a profound, and accurate statement Ari...and it's not just with surgeons. Think about traffickers and pimps...they use these very same mind games to manipulate young girls into thinking no one will ever love them, and that they will never find any better than the ones who captured them.
