First off:

"No man is an island." and "Ask not for whom the bels toll. . ."

I take no joy in the death of Colin Powel.

And yet, many on the right have stumbled over each other making a big deal out of his career. A man of accomplishment.. . Yes. A hero to the conservative cause . . .Hardly.

• He endorsed Obamas first run for president.
  
• Then he doubled-down and endorsed Obama for his second term after we had found out who he really was.
  
• To make his political orientation clear after all that: He loudly endorsed Hillary Clinton's run against Trump.

Collin Powel was never a conservative.

Powell was a hero. He stated he was a social liberal or fiscal conservative (or something like that). Two medals of freedom, actually earned, given by presidents from both parties.

What exactly makes Powell a hero, anymore than some E1 from Toad Suck, Arkansas?

Edit: Actually the guy from Toad Suck probably didn’t lie us into a war, so is likely more deserving of the title.
