Rochelle Keyhan Wants to close all AMPs
Has anyone else seen this article?
https://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/c...-place-orders/
Here are excerpts:
“ With COVID-19’s closures of nonessential businesses, many trafficking enterprises are violating those restrictions. These venues of sex and labor trafficking operate behind the façade of a commercial front business — like illicit massage venues used as a cover for sex trafficking. They work with cash transactions and engage in various types of financial crimes and fraud, including underreporting their annual income, paying lower taxes and lower insurance premiums and violating sales tax laws in their pricing and advertising. They already operate below the radar, and it is no different during COVID-19.”
“ Massage parlor trafficking is an insidious form of trafficking that has been incredibly organized and difficult to eradicate across the nation. The most prolific buyers do not care about public health concerns like communicable disease, and traffickers do not care about the health and safety of their victims.
As buyers and traffickers adapt to changing times, so must our enforcement efforts — and that starts with monitoring their behavior and holding them accountable.
Rochelle Keyhan is an attorney and chief executive of Collective Liberty, an organization that gathers data to help police departments better prosecute traffickers. She wrote this column for The Dallas Morning News.”

Some interesting words in that excerpt are "monitoring their behavior".

Political speak may get flagged. Just saying. I'm not a moderator. But I've seen it before.

Funny you say that because it seems most of the hue and cry about trafficking, especially the blanket use of this term when referring to predominantly Asian establishments (specifically massage and nail spas), comes from decidedly Liberal quarters. Politicians and celebrities wax eloquent about the evils of the Sex Trade, while their friends screw on the casting couch, and/or party with young coeds on the island.
It is correct that Conservatives, and Christians, are against trafficking. The same is true of other religious sects. But, Democratic pols and Liberal activists are more likely to push for legal action, such as raids.
I think this has more to do with the Liberal notion of government oversight (read as: control). While Conservatives are more about minimal government, with less involvement in the private lives of citizens and less regulation of businesses.
But, in an election year, AMPs are fair game for politicians of all ilks. As Chung says, "They're low hanging fruit." It's easy to round up 10-20 Asian gals, managers and owners (and their assets) and claim that they took down a trafficking ring. The Media has a field day. And, the SWs, pimps and drug dealers film the whole thing on their big ass phones.
In two weeks time, the spa is registered to another person and a "Grand Opening New Management" banner is strung up out front.
Everything gets politicized these days, even little bottles of water.

this initial paragraph destroys the narrative. if we assume "illicit massage venues" is her term for AMPs, then show me the AMPs that are open.. there are NONE.. in fact, they will be slower to re-open than almost any business. which tells me AMPs are not part of the trafficking sphere.. not that they ever were, but it stands to reason that if ALL AMPs have been closed for close to two months now, they are doing a damn shoddy job of trafficking.
back to the low hanging fruit analogy.. that is AMPs all the way.. any code enforcer, law personnel can walk in and inspect at anytime, the AMPs addresses are published, they are wide open for anyone to see and visit.. yet this Dum Dum thinks they are able to "hide" trafficking behind the façade of a commercial front business? huh? finding real traffickers is hard work, it's lazy bullshit to point at neighborhood AMPs and make blanket lying statements.. nobody will step up to defend AMPs, just like CBS 11, when Jade was raided, and their Reporter said GIRLS were trafficked there.. what happened with that? nothing, just a stupid money laundering scheme.. not saying that is not illegal and wrong, but the lies about trafficking controlled the headlines.

Some might take this wrong. I believe in a free country and responsible adults should be able to do as they damn well please as long as they are not harming others. The government’s responsibility should be to protect their citizens and not try to be the moral conscious of its citizens. That being said, if a women’s choice is to have sex for money should be her choice. However, if she is being forced or traffic, etc into doing something against her will, then she should be protected. If they seek out a manager to promote them, that should be their choice. The line is crossed when they are held hostage, physically abused, etc into having sex with patrons against their will.
