Your experience reminded me of a really old joke.
Guy walks up to a man sitting on the sidewalk like he was in a trance, chanting and spitting. All this guy would do was spit on the sidewalk and say "damn he can drive", spit and "damn he can drive".
Finally, after about a half hour of watching this guy do this, the other fellow walks up to him and asks him what the hell is going on, why is he spitting and chanting the phrase "damn he can drive".?
The crazy guy looks up at him and tells him his story. "I was hitchhiking and this trucker picked me up. Not long afterwards, we were going downhill on this dangerous curved road with a steep cliff on the side, we lost the brakes, there was cars in front of us, there was another truck behind us that didn't have brakes either, I just knew we were going to die! So I told the trucker, if you get us out of this, I'll suck your dick!".
"Damn, he can drive."
