You walk in the door you get busted.
What's legal is up to a judge later.
Keep your mouth shut and get an attorney.
At a "good" sting, leo knows what they are doing and how to do it, so it probably sticks.
Read the sticky threads in this forum that contain multiple variations of this issue.
But, with decent advance research you won't have the problem.

The OP's use of the term "honey trap" isn't a usage of the term I've come across before, and I suspect it's a misuse of the term. However, I'll assume this is what the OP is asking:
If the police ONLY posts a provider profile (or an ad) offering sexual services for money, and the hobbyist shows up at the location and ONLY pays money, does that constitute prostitution under Texas law?
My answer is "no" because it is a fundamental legal concept that an ad is not an offer. (To me, a profile is the same thing as an ad.) If an ad is not an offer, paying the money can't be acceptance of an offer.
In sum, the Texas prostitution statute makes any of four acts a crime: offer, acceptance, soliciting, and what I'll call the act of pay-for-play without an offer or acceptance. The hypothetical doesn't fall within any of these categories.
However, I agree with Unique_Carpenter that sometimes a judge decides what's legal or illegal after the fact, and the outcome could depend on the judge, or even the mood of the particular judge that day.
Note: My opinion is based on the fact situation presented.

The best description of a "honey trap" would be a bait car.
It's not entrapment, it's just opportunity.

Terms, especially colloquial ones, often have multiple meanings. But in most situations "honey trap" means someone (often a foreign espionage service or an economic competitor) using sex to entrap someone. They then apply pressure through the man/woman used as bait--promises of "love" and more sex--and try to extract information. Failing that, blackmail.
In these kinds of honey traps, LE is the least of your problems.

I know a guy who answered an ad that did not mention any services. Went to hotel room, agreed to body rub for money . Laid money down, got naked. Girl said "if you want anal it will be extra 50" guy said"just came for some fun, lets start with back rub" leo busted through adjoining door guns drawn.
He took the deal cuz you cant seal a possible conviction.

In texas as you know, it is possible to petition the court to have your criminal record put under an order of nondisclosure after successfully completing court supervision on deferred adjudication for certain crimes. Not perfect, but keeps the public from seeing it. A conviction is always searchable to anyone.

Absolutely, just not available to those with convictions or community service for more than C misdemeanor.

Well, that's not strictly true. But I'll leave the topic for another day.

That's one of numerous definitions.
Others are also mentioned above.
