Default Has anybody ever had a total knee replacement?

I may have to have one of these in the near future, so I thought I would see if anybody has any opinions on this subject.

Would you do it again, or just live with the pain?

I've seen some youtube videos of the surgery. I guess I'm thinking that most surgeries are some variation of micro-sugery, however this isn't microsurgery.

How was rehab, better or worse than you thought?

Post op, can you do as much? Is there that much difference between the birth knee and the replaced knee?

Get several opinions. Find out if quadriceps sparing is an option. Have an epidural placed, if appropriate for post op pain.

Thanks. I've had the 'rooster comb' injections and that did pretty well, but was very expensive.

There is a doctor in Houston that has a procedure that is less damaging to the surrounding tissue.
The hardest part is that you have to agree to his rehabilitation methods before he will accept you as a candidate for being a patient.
Much faster recovery time with less pain.
I will see if I can find his name and send you a PM.
I would not want to put his name out on a hooker board.

There is a non-invasive treatment, it takes about 6 months to improve the ligament, reduce the pain and improve mobility.

I've know of a 80 year old woman who didn't want to go through knee replacement, she has experienced almost 80% improvement.
