Default NOTICE OF PHOENIX HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE PUBLIC MEETING

NOTICE OF PHOENIX HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE PUBLIC MEETING

Open to the General Public - welcome reports if anyone goes. I don't have the time and not willing to speak with such a hostile anti-sexwork task force! I didn't realize when the meeting was until today.

Public Meeting: February 17,2015, at 9:30 a.m. located in Phoenix City Hall, 12th Floor, Central Conference Room, 200 W. Washington Street, Phoenix, Arizona.

First item: Considerations, discussion and concerns from the public.

Other items:
New task force appointments.

City of Phoenix code changes on booking “Johns” Presentation and discussion on the City of Phoenix code changes and mandatory booking.

The Office of U.S. Attorney will present on their efforts regarding Human Trafficking. Judge John Leonardo Assistant U.S. Attorney Christine Keller Assistant U.S. Attorney Krissa Lanham

Vice Mayor Jim Waring,Chair

I only found the meeting info after the KPHO article 2/16/2015:
Super Bowl sex trafficking efforts worth it, experts say

After review to praise the arrests of prostitutes and Johns and probably how it has to continue.

Tuesday the Phoenix human trafficking task force will hold a meeting probably to rejoice on all the arrests.

Dream Center person Shane led an outreach with 350 volunteers contacting 2500 women on the street.

Dave notes why did FBI and police arrest non-street consenting adults that do not need rescuing?

22 were put into emergency housing (good if some were homeless).

16 minors were reported to LE to get them out of "that life".

22 Johns were arrested in Phoenix in the weeks leading up to the Superbowl. But these were from ads on backpage of LE setting up stings which were probably not related to street prostitution.

Dominique Roe-Sepowitz the had lead the anti-prostituition crusade for years says, "She and her team placed ads on backpage.com and said their research over the Super Bowl shows Phoenix is a larger buyer's market than they thought, and the solution is more complex than sending 'Johns' to jail right away."

"We know that anywhere that money and men combine and opportunity to buy sex, the people will do that, so how do we change that is really the question," Roe-Sepowitz said.

The city's human trafficking task force will de-brief Tuesday morning, followed by the governor's task force on Wednesday. Both are open to the public. Roe-Sepowitz said next week she will be officially releasing details from their Super Bowl study.

Dave notes why can't real pimps that force women into prostitution be charged with kidnapping or sexual abuse? No, we have to have "sex trafficking" laws where based on past data about 90% of arrests are consenting adults who do not wish to be someones "rescue project".

There hasn't been 2500 women on the streets of PHX ever. Not even back in the heyday of Van Buren.

Wow, 22 johns arrests over Super Bowl? I wonder how much money was spent by LE to get those 22 criminals, and how much that was per arrest? This article says there 570 arrests nationwide around Super Bowl
