In all fairness, there have been more than one, although a select few have used it to the
nth degree. And, in further fairness, many of the ladies are doing it with initially-good intentions. They need to step away for a bit, whether due to personal issues, family issues, health issues, or they simply just need to take a break from all the BS associated with the lifestyle. Perhaps changing their ads from
"I'm retiring" to
"I'm taking a break of an undetermined length of time... may be two days, may be two months" would be a more accurate portrayal of their intent.
However, it's the ones that use (some even admittedly) the retirement announcements as a pure marketing tool, with absolutely no intent to do so, that we can all do without.

As I think I commented on a previous thread, wouldn't it be interesting if this business fell under the Federal Trade Commission's rules on false advertising?
