Looking for advice concerning retiring in Pattaya, Thailand
Hello Everyone,
Looking for advice and suggestions on retiring in Pattaya, Thailand was thinking of Angeles City, Philippines yet have heard many comments on the infrastructure, violence and safety with being there full time.. Plan on retiring around 62-63, this is still a 6 years off, in good health and have money saved in the bank, 401K, Pension, and SS will kick in as well....Enjoy the company of women yet would like to live close to be able to enjoy the beach and travel through Asia.
Thanks for all of your help,
TexasCowboy

No hard info, just a suggestion. Spend time both places, since you have time. Get advice from the many retirees already living at each location.
AC - Saw plenty of guys in Angeles City living the life, many had younger wives/girlfriend with a kid. Never talked to any of them. But you have to deal with rough weather.
Thailand - Almost every time I was at the US embassy in BKK, there seemed to be some American complaining about the Visa frequency quite loudly. Political stability may be a future issue.
The Philippine-Addicts and Pattaya-Addicts forums may be good sources.

Thanks very much for your help and impute.....It is really appreciated., flying to Angles City from Thailand should not cost to much so this is one of the main reasons for picking Thailand. Then will be able to see Costa Rica and Panama with the wildlife, rainforest and attractions along with the women of each country.

Take a look at other places in Thailand besides Pattaya.
I've met a few guys who retired to Surin. They've been quite happy with the area.

Thanks.....Pattaya would be considered a starting point in Thailand then from there could go to different areas of the country......Would just get an apartment, nothing fancy for a couple of months to settle down, enjoy what is offered and go from there....Always would be cautious of my money such as get rich quick schemes, investing in a business or hard luck stories.

Direct flights to Angeles City are limited and fill fast. Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore have direct flights. Carriers I have flown were Asia Air and Tiger Air. There are others, but it's not as easy as you might think.

United has a non stop service to BKK.
If you like to live by the beach. Consider Rayong province.
If you like cooler place ( still hot) is Chiang Mai.
I've heard many likes Korat as well.
If you want to buy some property. You have to marry to the locals that's what I've heard.
