No, they don't "think" it was engineered because they have no proof that it was so at this point, it would be irresponsible to say it was engineered ( and Tucker Carlson nor anybody else on Fox news is saying that ) as opposed to a naturally occurring virus in a specific bat species that was being studied and we have the absolute proof of that because that is what the virology lab was for, to study viruses and at the time it was in bat studies.
I can't find a single report of any U.S. intelligence saying that the virus was "un-likely" to have escaped from the Wuhan lab but if you have that quote, I sure would like to see it. Many news sources as of today say that they have it from reliable government sources that "escaped from the lab in Wuhan" is the most likely scenario but yet unproven though there is a mound of circumstantial evidence and the fact that China will not let Western scientist in to investigate and have likely destroyed any evidence they had and have told anybody in China that they may not speak about this without the permission of the Communist Party, tells us all we need to know about their complicity.
Even if it didn't escape from a lab and it "naturally occurred" from a bat to a human and that first human first spread it to another in the wet market when it could have been spread anywhere in Wuhan, while it is an important piece of the puzzle, the real problem is how China handled it and how they lied about it and how the WHO and many members of U.S. media went along with Chinese propoganda.
It appears that while the Chinese government shut down travel to and from Wuhan, they did not shut down air travel out of Wuhan to the rest of the world and if that is the case and can be proven and I think it already has, it wouldn't matter if it came from a lab or naturally occurred one day on the streets of Wuhan. If the Communist party attempted to stop the spread in China but didn't try and stop it from getting out to the rest of the world, they are responsible for the world wide tragedy.
