you might want to re-post this in either the 'welcome and intro' section or the provider ads section...I would also recommend increasing the size of your text! but welcome, anyways!

The welcome section is for new members only, not for visiting new cities. Your post is basically an ad and has been edited.

Welcome to New Orleans (NOLA). I'll try to be nice but sweetheart--you can't post "does anyone know any good restaurants in New Orleans?" & not have people tease you a little. I've lived in decent restaurant towns before, but there is NOTHING to compare to New Orleans. Even San Francisco doesn't. Closest I've come in the US is Santa Fe, and that's a one-trick pony: the food there is GREAT if you love New Mexico (I do!). NOLA, although known for creole & creole-Italian, does have an incredible variety. New Orleans is the food capital of the WORLD. There's nothing but good food here--I've had food that was OK in 3 yrs., but I don't think I've ever had anything actually BAD the entire time. So you can't ask if there's anywhere good to eat.

You can ask where's BEST. Where's GOOD. Where's INEXPENSIVE but still TASTY. Where's a CAN'T-MISS-LANDMARK. You'll still get several hundred answers in each category. What are you in the mood for sweetheart?

Like everyone--I have my favorites. If you know where you're staying & what's walking distance to you it helps. NOTE: MANY locals will tell the best food is NOT in the Fr. Qtr. Welllll... My favorite places are outside the Qtr. too, but there's some mighty-good-food inside it as well. Muriel's. Gumbo Shop. I swear I've never loved another person or animal or truck as much as I love that chicken-&-andouille gumbo. Central Grocery. Arnauld's. Deanie's (its the potatoes in crab-boil they serve instead of bread)...

Talk to the local women on the board. They can tell you where to stay (very important) & then they'll let you know where they like to go for food which is close by. Or when you know roughly what area, ask again & you can probably get suggestions a short ride or walk from where you stay.

I'll go ahead & plug my favorite restaurant in NOLA: Jacques Imo's. Eat there at least once. Loud, not elegant, but the best in creole cooking. Never had a fish there that wasn't perfect. Order the alligator-sausage-&-shrimp-cheesecake @ the bar while you wait for your table. Sounds (and w/the sauce, looks) disgusting. Tastes INCREDIBLE. Seriously.

If you like Sushi...

A lot of the locals like this place called Rock'N'Saki... I can't say I was impressed for the price.

There is a place near Terrytown that I like a lot called Tennou. Fantastic Sushi, but I don't live there anymore & haven't been in a while.

Hope it's the same - cuz I'm goin back next time!

Ralph & Cuckoos is a well known - well established place also.

Deja Vu and daisy Dukes are some awsome late night bite restaurants! Deja Vu has $6.99 steak night Tuesday and Thursdays. You can't beat that!!

Irene's. Maximo's. Bachannals for after in the bywater . Satsuma the next morning for some healthy, hipster breakfast/brunch and a revitalizing juice. Port au call for dinner. I don't know if a wizard makes their baked potatoes. But they are good. Really good. Maybe epiphany inducing. Next morning, take a couple of appointments then head to court of two sisters for brunch. It's a little touristy, but man I love the smell of buffets in the morning (that's right, an apocalypse now ref. That's how I roll). Take another couple of appointments. Dragos for late lunch/dinner if you love oysters. Later, Head to Frenchman street for music and fun. Don't miss sitting at an outside table at marigny brasserie. Foods not much to speak of, but it's the best people watching in town. Go home happy.
