It would seem to me that your internet provider could cancel you for this, if you own one. They are very particular about internet sharing.

Sadly, if ANYONE within a 1/2 mile of your home has one {likely} you are screwed.

So Amazon has devised a new signals platform that runs off of the internet connections to Echo but then uses radio frequency signals which are much farther ranging than Wi-Fi to connect with other smart devices whether they are home appliances or personal electronics or gadgets you have on your person or vehicle, and that's two way communication so commands and data could be sent or received. Like a super wifi with range of one half mile, and working magically without standard wifi connectivity, very interesting and impressive.
