Why wasn't i arrested/ am i being paranoid?
So i set up a date. The provider asks me to meet her at the back entrance of her hotel. I walk there and almost immediately see police drive past. I walk back to my car and drive away. Police follow me and eventually pull me over "for crossing white line while stopped at stop sign".
After a couple minutes of questioning, including if i knew hotel is notorious for prostitution, the cop lets me go with a warning.
I can't tell if i'm being paranoid, but i feel like i should have been arrested - especially if the police have records of the text convo (...and i have a feeling they do, cause i felt setup). I don't say anything illegal in the texts, but from what i've read on here, they can get almost anything for solicitation.
do cops ever let johns go only to arrest them at a later date?

They were just trying to scare you, and it seems to have worked. If they had anything you would have gone for a ride.

i was literally at the back door for less than a minute from the time i got the go ahead text to when i watched the cop roll past me, which led me to believe i was setup.
i guess i didn't do anything illegal per se, but a lot of the stories on here sound like people have been arrested for less - especially if it was le I was talking to the whole time.

They were just hanging out at the hotel waiting for people to go to the hotel and come out.
Then they scare the shit out of you.

Shame on you and your lawbreaking ways. Don't you know that stopping past the white line could result in a serious traffic accident?

You got lucky, they don't start worrying about stats until the end of the month/year.

If the cop car was marked, he's a patrol cop and doing his thing. Yes, trying to scare you out of the neighborhood, but also checking you out a both a john and/or a pimp.
If the cop car was a plain wrapper utr, then you were lucky the detective just put a scare on you. He then met buddies later somewhere and had a good laugh at your expense.
Best of luck out there!

If it were a sting, you would not have seen a uniformed cop until after you talked to the girl.
They knew something illegal was going on and scared you away.
You were smart to leave because you can't be too careful. They may have just been fishing for evidence or probable cause. Or they may have been killing time fucking w an obvious John. Cops get paid to be suspicious.
If you do get questioned, admit to nothing. Dont say anything except:
Yes/no sir/ma'am.
Did I do something wrong?
Can I leave?
I don't think I should say anything until I talk to a lawyer. (This one usually gets them to leave you alone unless it is a sting.)

He sacred you bro. You did nothing wrong, how can the cop knew your activities if he didn't see you doing it. Remember they need evidence for that and you rights too, to be in a hotel even if you don't stay there you can say I came by to see the place so I can rent for the night.

it was a bp girl i was going to see, but she offered doubles with a girl on here so i thought she was legit. i guess it was a coincidence 5-0 came rolling up at that particular time because if it was a sting, they could have waited ten minutes and had me for sure.

The fact that the cop saw you walk up to the hotel and then immediately turn around and get back into your vehicle was probably what caught his attention. Most likely he could tell he spooked you and decided to follow you looking for a reason to pull you over. If you were in an area known for prostitution he pulled you over in hopes that you would be dumb enough to incriminate yourself or to just scare you off, which it looks like he did exactly that. Just be cautious of what you say over emails or texts.

Austin_88 is right.
He wanted to scare you. Cops can't get text messages without a warrant. Did he have time to get a warrant for you and the provider"s phone records? What did the provider say when you talked to her?
You looked like you didn't belong and attracted attention to yourself especially when you got in your car to leave at the very sight of a cop car....you ran like a scared rabbit...and set off his "spidey sense". It doesn't matter what the area is notorious for, that doesn't mean you can't be there or in the area.
