I use a VPN to access and do not have any issues except when Cloudflare get involved.

I use a VPN and there are certain VPN connections that I get IP blocked with. I eventually found several that work without problem and rotate through about 10 different ones. I think they get reported and the OH2 block list gets updated.
I have never had any issues with ECCIE, but the new version of my VPN software does flag both sites as Phishing and suspicious so I turn off web monitoring when I check these sites. When they get blocked it logs them in the block history on the application so I have to clear them from the history to avoid anyone in my house seeing the attempted access.

I use VPN and Puffin (App) to access OH2. When it says blocked (occasionally), I disconnect the VPN, wait for a few seconds and connect back, to get a new IP address. Usually works on the second or third try. No issues generally. The VPN address has to be a US IP address though.

I have no issues - technical, that is.
Fundamental issues with mod/pimps and protected BSCs - now thats a different matter.

so, just wondering - why are y'all using a VPN when connecting to eccie and/or oh2?
it's not like you are sending/receiving financial acct info or personally identifiable information.

I’ll take a stab at answering this:
If you don’t use VPN, you are sending Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to these sites. IP address is PII. It is tied to your computer or phone and can be traced back to you. You are also telling your ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are visiting these sites if you don’t use a VPN. Not that you can’t trust sites like ECCIE or OH2, but they might be compelled by the govt. someday to turn over their IP address logs, in which case they have to comply.
Using VPN alone cannot protect you since the VPN providers can also be compelled to turn over their logs in which case they have to comply too. Not that anyone would be super interested in our logs—unless there is a serious crime worth spending that much effort and money (on part of the govt.). Since all of us here are law abiding citizens who only partake in the hobby by exchanging our money for a providers time (and not the sex which might happen —that too only in our fantasies/dreams), we have nothing to worry about (LOL); nevertheless, it’s always better to protect our privacy.
One solution to even be more safe and private is to use a “Double” VPN, where your computer or phone connects to a server outside the “Five Eyes” (like in a country like Switzerland), and that server in turn connects to a server in the US, which finally connects to these sites (ECCIE/OH2). It’s pretty hard then for the govt. to get your true IP unless they go to a court in Switzerland to get a subpoena to get your IP. Law abiding citizens like us have no reason to fear that they will go through all that trouble to get our true IP (and hence our identity). Double VPN is also called Secure Core by VPN companies like Proton VPN.
Remember, we are not committing any crimes nor do we intend to; we are just trying to protect our privacy, that’s why we use a VPN. At least that’s the way to approach this.
PS: excuse my typos or any grammatical errors. Typing this on a small screen.

Yes, VPN removes or suppresses any evidence of traffic between your computer and sites you are accessing. This is in case LE comes after you for an investigation. VPN with servers outside of US make it much more difficult for LE. But better to use it for only sites like eccie and oh2. Also, if these sites ever have ip based blocking, you can circumvent that also using vpn.
People with multiple handles also use VPN to avoid being linked and banned by mods.

ckj & aone, thx for the info.
having spent many moons in IT, i know what vpns do, just wondered why people use it.
i also know it's good to manage risks, but does anyone have any idea how many people have been arrested/indicted/charged/convicted based on accessing escort/provider/adult-sex-worker sites?
if next to zero, using vpn might be low on the totem pole.

Pmd, it's not up to you or me to define risk tolerance for different folks. Technology exists and some people use it to safeguard themselves. Some people use duckduck go search engine, others use incognito mode or very obscure Brower. To each their own.
Also, legal landscape keeps changing, I think there are some changes in law in OK, they may come down to TX also.

Great question! May be more experienced hobbyists can weigh on this. I would be very interested to know. Using a “double” VPN (small effort for good benefits) might be a wiser path to protect privacy, if nothing else. Again, my understanding is that we are NOT paying for sexual services, only for the provider’s time, and any reviews are fantasies/dreams, and purely there for entertainment purposes, and nothing more (and nothing less )

Y'all might want to see my post under Security Issues regarding the Great Sovereign Nation of Tejas purchasing Israeli metadata collection tools plus facial recognition software.
I still maintain that smartphones are individual's greatest vulnerability. Also, the "how many arrested / prosecuted / convicted" thing is a false reading. Under Tejas law, LE is not obligated / required to disclose ANYTHING if the label it "under investigation". Example: It took the parents of the Santa Fe, TX school shooting 5 YEARS and one month to force LE to disclose autopsy results ON THEIR OWN CHILDREN. The Uvalde, TX parents are gearing up for the same fight.
We will never know how many "clients" are arrested because arrest info is strictly discretionary. There is NO TX or Federal law that compels LE to report arrests, convictions, etc. Plus, how many "clients" with a lot to lose with a Felony Solicitation prosecution facing them plea out to a lesser charge with sealed records?
"Everybody thinks it won't happen to them... until it happens to them."
