Fictional hero of those who fought racism, it turns out his character from "To Kill A Mockingbird" was a white separatist.

Maybe at some point you assholes can understand there are some of us who don't want to harm minorities but don't want to have our culture and way of life destroyed, either.

Atticus Finch fought against mistreatment of negroes but he was still a white separatist. He didn't want to live with, or see them harmed.

It is therefore unfair to call those of us opposing minority hegemony a bunch of redneck racist subhuman filth. Sophisticated and accomplished white people also would prefer that colored folks leave them alone. Whites can survive just fine without blacks or Mexicans. Might have smaller, dirtier houses and have to mow our own lawns, but we could survive.

You are mistaken. Go Set a Watchman was the first draft of To Kill a Mockingbird. Harper Lee was told to go back and tell the story from the point of view of the girl, but when she was younger. Atticus Finch is a character of fiction, you do understand this, yes?

It's difficult to get a handle on just what the release of this work was meant to accomplish, aside from making a shit load of money for the publishers and Harper Lee's estate,(she's darn near 90, so there is not much time for her to enjoy it).

Untill somebody actually sits down with Harper Lee and does an interview in order to find out what was going through her mind, (after all, Atticus Finch is a creation of her mind), it is just speculation as to why, after so many years, it was decided to show a icon of literature in such a different light.
