Dropped off the upcoming Stones Tour just 2 weeks ago.. Eerily similar to ZZ Top's Dusty Hill, who died days after dropping off the current run of shows, last month.

Funny. It's also funny how that Keith, who looked 70 when he was 45 now actually looks his ripe old age of 77. In fact, he looks good for a 77 year old man. Looks healthy and happy.

Sad though about Charlie, reminds me of my own mortality. Everybody's leaving us.
2020 was a year in which we lost so many great musicians.

Anyone else here at the concert they played at Cowboys Stadium a couple years ago? An epic spectacle, full of theatrics and fireworks and electricity in the air. I was lucky enough to have seats down on the field, close to the ramp that extended out into the audience.


I hope Keith plays at my funeral in what I hope is a few decades from now.

By the way, I believe it was 6 years ago when the Stones last played the Cotton Bowl. They were scheduled in April, 2020, but the pandemic pushed that to November of this year.

Stones played at the Cotton Bowl in 1975, 1981, 1989 and 1994. I was at all four shows.

The show in 2015 was at the big football stadium in Arlington (whatever it’s called).. Terrible acoustics, I must say. Worst I’ve ever heard in a big stadium.

Their only Texas stop in 2019, was in Houston at their indoor football stadium. Better acoustic than in Arl8ngton by a mile, though still not as good as outdoors. Saw them in 2019 in LA (Rose Bowl), San Jose (wherever the 49ers play) and Chicago (Soldier Field). All much better acoustics. I’m hoping that COVID doesn’t cancel the November 2, 2021 show at the Cotton Bowl.

Charlie Watts was the backbone of the Stones. They would not have sounded the same without him. One of the greatest drummers of the 20th century.

As a Beatles fan, I can’t argue with their title of Greatest Rock and Roll Band. It’s still amazing to me how “modern” their late 60s and early 70s output still sounds, and that run of albums during that time may be the best run of any act in pop music history. No doubt in my mind Charlie made them better…they were smart to recruit him in 1963. I don’t think they would have been the same without him.

Watts was seriously in to jazz. Saw the Stones in 1975; they were written off as “old” back then. His drum set looked like he got it from KMart.

Yeah, but it did have a minimalist look about it, particularly when you watched their shows in a huge stadium.
