ASPD Fallout
I won't be specific here but simply say if you are interested, read some of the new "Coed Boardwide" and a little of the HDH....probably even more on some of the Texas Boards....
...But a great study in people: What they think they are owed. What is right. How to run a business. How to raise money. How a family deals with tragedy. And what is appropriate thru the eyes of different stakeholders....and posters.
Part of the reason I don't want to comment specifically is the "direction" & "sentiment" seems to change daily & I'd need a scorecard to keep up, but the fallout over there is a much better read than anything over here if you like soap operas.
& WTF, if you want to give your money away, can I suggest a better charity? Glad you are here.

Might I add:Twas fun, enlightening and educational whilst it lasted. Truthfully, ASPD.net was like an escort and client's manual to read, especially for first-timers who were venturing in this endeavor.

Sad to see it go, I wasn't there as long as some, but longer than others.
I learned a lot in about the meaning of class in the the HDH forum, though.
But, viva la change!

So what would your definition of class be? Just joking! Just what we need, another heated discussion.
Thanks for the compliment, you are a sweetheart.

The terms exclusive, classy and elite are NOT open to interpretation. If they were, McDonald's would advertise as such.
I'm about as far from classy as they get, but the ladies ( and most of the gents) tolerated my trailer-park butt when I tried to chime in on the "smart" conversations, lol.
That's part of my definition of class, being kind to others, making them feel comfortable and treating them with respect.
Anyhoo ... LOVE them boots.

I would like to say that I am amazed at how quickly everything can go to shite... but alas, I'm not so very shocked at all. After all, that is human nature
I suppose that's what I get for trying to move right after the holidays... one week I'm sharing my love of art supplies and dive watches, the next thing I know, the lights are going out and everyone's arguing about it!

Well, the train wreck is still rolling right along. They banned me tonight after 11 years and over 300 posts without a single point or warning -- less than 24 hours before the joint is supposed to close down for good. All for asking pointed questions about the scheme to raise initial funding for Amber's sister's we site. (At least that's what I assume it's for although I did have a pointed remark of two about not saying they were sorry not to be able to refund BCD fees.)

Well I got concerned when I offered to help out with Servers, Bandwidth, and shelf space for a period of time no charge to help them get started and simply got asked for a donation. No questions of how it could work for them.
Warning warning Will Robinson.
No judgement their call but it kept me from doing any more.

My .02 cents...
I was still a relative newcomer to ASPD before its untimely demise, however there were a few things there that just didn't sit right with me. I won't get into details, but all-in-all, it seems that I see more and more of the ASPD folks coming here than anywhere else. I instantly got a good vibe from this place, and I'm glad that I found it.

I just posted on the Houston version of that thread. Basically, I'd be happy to donate if they can answer me in regards to where they came up with the arbitrary 10K number. I'm part owner of a large adult forum that serves a similar industry, and the figures for startup and operations were nowhere near the 10K mark. I'd need some documentation, especially since so many ASPD members are out in the cold in regards to their BCD payments, Sponsor Ad payments, and banner placement payments-- without so much as an apology.

Similar to Wombat they had an offer on the table for servers/bandwidth/tech expertise on server and content side that I think was considerably beyond what they have and the ability to move everything quickly to upgraded sw, stable environment, upgraded bandwidth, and ultimately a functioning stand-alone business model. Of course that would mean getting something in return. While I understand and respect the direction they wished to take it was not one which I was willing to spend time or money for.
