New device for speeding tickets in Euless?
The last couple of mornings I have seen the same Euless PD officer sitting out of way on 183 east bound past the 121 split. She is there door open pointing something at oncoming traffic. I have had my SO's car most of the week and she does not have a fuzz buster so I assumed it was a wonky radar gun and paid no further attention. Today I am back in my car and multitasking like a douche, not paying attention to speed when I get hit by laser coming around the bend. Sure enough there she is again and I am doing about 20 over in construction zone. I know I am busted so I slow and move toward right anticipating the flashing lights but the officer doesn't budge. When I passed her she gave a thumbs up and turned back to other traffic. i got a better look at the device and it does not look like any radar gun I have ever seen before, more like a bulkier camcorder.
I am curious now if I can expect a speeding ticket in similar form to red light cameras in the future.

Good thing she didn't give you a ticket. I got a speeding ticket at 635 and Preston. The ticket doubled because I was in construction.

interesting... I drive that way often, the police sit in that spot at least twice a week... it's a perfect set-up, you can't see them as you speed past the 121 split, you drive up the little hill, and there they are... too late to slow down. I always expect to see them, so I've never been burned, but I see a lot of people pulled over.
I don't recall seeing that device...just a normal radar gun. sometimes a cop doesn't pull you over, but calls ahead your info to another cop waiting a mile down the road, who actually stops you. based on your description here? I think you may be right, you are zapped... the laser recorded you, got your plates, and you'll be seeing a ticket soon... the "thumbs up" meant "gotcha"!

Actually sometimes they feel like they "won" since you slowed down... She was in a good mood or actually got the person next to you in front or something.
Just thank your God and move on.
In theory of you get a ticket it would not be moving violation, more of a parking ticket like the red light ones. (No points on driving record). Just easy way to make a buck.

U got lucky, buy a lotto ticket.
If it had cross hairs on top it was a laser box. The laser cannot work in the car cause the windshield will bend the laser light.
Most LE are looking for the big speeders 25+ unless they need their quota filled for the month. Then anything over 10 will get pulled over for the green stamp.
The last week of the month U can get a green stamp very easy.

Maybe they were just testing it.
They cut the cost of the ticket down to $50. I could have 40 of these coming in my mail this week...scary thought.

at least where those were being used in the article they send you a ticket that is cheaper then if you were pulled over. so hopefully something similar in place here.

The cost is not the biggie. You could lose your license if you get too many and not even know about it.
With a cop, there is a good chance he let you go with a warning if you are not an asshole but there is no reasoning with a machine.

A majority of the HEB, Irving, Arlington departments are using the new LIDAR gun, it looks like a oblong box with a pistol grip and most are equipped with a 8x scope on top.
Erroneous readings are possible.....
