Default Burner phone vs. Burner App?

Hello:
I need to get either a new burner phone or use the burner app.....any major issues with Burner App instead of getting separate physical phone?

Thanks for advice

How would you feel about throwing your real phone in a river, or down a sewer grate? Or being able to say to the guy thats wiping jelly doughnut off his face, that the phones not yours? Seriously, $40 for a throwaway is cheap compared to other costs
But your resl phone should have a burn app on it regardless, just cause of real life anyway.

I'd recommend a burner phone. It's a lot easier to just power it off at night or even leave it in your gym locker than it would be to maintain app notifications coming to your real world phone.

Both are useful.. if you get a burner phone and decide to go with a smart phone, keep the GPS turned off, do not use it for navigation to a lady etc, for that matter don't use your real phone either

a non smart phone as a burner phone is ideal

straighttalk has a cheap phone its like 50$?
Get the basic one. pay cash for the minutes which is actually cheaper.
Also when you register your phone NEVER EVER use your real name or actual address.
use a very basic common name, also google houses for sale with your zip code and use that as an address.

Buy a new SIM. Which means you need a phone that uses GSM. You can walk into a lot of these "iPhone screens repaired" type places and buy an unlocked used phone, with cash, then walk into almost anywhere and buy a SIM for it, with cash. In fact wander around town and buy several SIMs at the same time but use them later. Or in some random order. Of course you have to register them with fake names, but use different fake names and wander around town when you register each.

One of my neighbors works for a private security company (not the rent a cops or alarm type) who once worked for some government agency (not the CIA) and has a dozen more, depending on how paranoid you want to be. I think there are worse that can happen than having your wife find out. I THINK. :-)

Default Burner Phone in my opinion.

I've used both, phone and the various apps. Apps are not reliable, often freeze or do not work well. As for service I wouldn't recommend straight talk, had them for a while and were great but recently had many issues with service and had to switch. Cricket is a better option and also inexpensive.

get a phone from metro pcs, nice 4g smart phone for $50 quadband GSM uses sim card, rather than CDMA that does not.

Then go to ebay and buy a carrier unlock code for $1.25 and use it on straight talk.

Easy, and only takes a few hours granted you have the straight talk nano sim.

I use tracfone because they are cheap, easy and everywhere. Might not be the best financially speaking tho that would depend on usage. Keep the serial # handy in case you have to burn the phone. I think that makes it easy to transfer any left over minutes to a new phone. Just my .02

I too use a Tracphone. Went to Walmart, picked out a cheap non-smartphone, paid cash for it and for the minutes. Caught a special whereby minutes purchased are doubled for life. When I need more I go to Walmart and buy the the minutes, cash of course. Registered to a burner e-mail address. There is no tie in to me RW.

The only drawback is texting is a PITA.

It also depends on your Personal Security Requirements and your style of play. Married, single, SO; multiple phone plan where more than one person can access the Call Detail Records, etc.

From my own experiences-
When I was a kid in a candy store and tasting all the lovely treats, I had a burner phone. No need for me to repeat all the reasons why.

When I found faves and we have a high degree of security with each other, I switched to a text-only App. I have never had any problems. I also have Google-Voice (as I never give out my direct cell phone number for any reason hobby or other-wise). If the need for phone comm arises, the GV works just fine.

If you get a burner, hide it in plain site (the drawer somewere that as all the fricking cables we have collected over the years) and always keep the battery out of the phone at all times when not in use. Also maybe scuff it up a bit to make it look like you picked it up and are going to recycle it with all the other electronic stuff we collect over the years.

Just .02 cents.

As jfame mentions, its a trust level thing.
I think burner phone is required, regardless. But, if a trust thing develops with a regular playmate, then the gv number.
As for burner aps, all handhelds, pads, laptops, should have that as basic securuty

If my burner phone is not in a desk drawer in my office I keep it turned off under the spare tire flap in my trunk of my car.

I have google voice, it does hide the " REAL " number, but the other number that is does use sticks out like a sore thumb on the bill. I'm getting a burner phone, but which one has good service ( if there is such a thing ) I had a boost mobile phone once and the service was horrible at best. I've heard horror stories about cricket wireless too.

In this tread I have read that both Straight Talk and Cricket have problems and don't use them. Is there a service for a burner phone that anyone has not had problems with?
