Where are some good places to go fishing?
I've been thinking about summer pleasures a lot, lately. When I was younger, I used to really like to go fishing and well, I haven't done this in YEARS.
Anyway ... where are a few fishing holes, if one calls them that any longer, in the Dallas area? Do people ever fish at White Rock Lake anymore?
Area lakes?
I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
Elisabeth

people do fish at white rock still and it is ok fishing. There are fishing barges at Grapevine and Lewisville. Best fishing close is Tawakoni..All the lakes are over full right now.. so fishing is off. There is a barge at Joe pool as well .

If you really want to fish and catch something, check out some of the guides. They know where the fish are and what they are hitting. I find the barges hit and miss. They stay put and the fish move... If a lake is releasing water, the area below the spillway is good for larger catfish....

If you're looking for the "eccie" experience (guaranteed score), I hear this place advertised on the radio all the time www.nofishnocharge.com Seem kinda pricey to me but I don't fish so may be a good deal, I don't know.

Couple of Fishin ideas:
Lake Fork. Get A guide. Drink alot.Go from dawn til dusk. Set new state records for Black AND LARGE MOUTH with me. hehe.
Use alot of suncreen, and go topless once you get on your/my/our honey hole! Then call me and I willl cum in with some cold and hot drinks and serve up whatever the lady's order!
Ditto on Turtle Creek in HP. Right on Lakeside in front of Jerry's .No guides but plenty of fish. I'll bait those hooks ladies, and mix the
COCK tails. hehe Just tell me what you like. Bring your fishing license, bait, chairs,n blanket and I'll bring my long ole POLE!

It depends on how much effort/time u want to put into it. All of the above replies are good suggestions. There are also 5 small, neighborhood lakes in DFW that are stocked twice a month (catfish in the summer, rainbow trout in the winter) by the state. They are close, clean and you will catch a fish. I go to the one in Mesquite often, sometimes drop by on the way home from work for an hour or two. Let me know if u want any more info.

Hey Elisabeth,
Like some have mentioned the water levels have put a dent on fishing right now. Some lakes are doing well and others are pretty off right now. Within the next few weeks things should stabilize, and summer patterns will be back to normal. If you let me know what type of fishing you would like to do I ( and others) would be happy to help you catch some fish. I would love to offer taking you out with me, but I have more luck getting away to hobby than I do fishing without the wife tagging along. LOL

You can listen to Texas Fishing and Outdoors on KRLD 1080 on Saturday and/or Sunday mornings from 5-6. The show has guides from most of the area lakes call in with fishing reports and suggestions.

I appreciate the input!
I wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions.
I was just out this morning, doing some yard work, and was just eaten up by bugs.
I wonder if the area lakes are as bad?
Anyway, perhaps not now ... but in the next month or so, I really would like to get out on the lake, or just sit on a pier, and fish. So relaxing.
I also wanted to thank the few people who sent me PM's. I REALLY do wish for this summer to be fun, and just pleasant.
Fishing just seems like, to me, a simple pleasure.
And I'm ALL for simple pleasures!!!
Again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Elisabeth

What exactly does a "honey hole" mean? I have never heard of that term ... unless I wish to think something dirty.

"Honey hole" is just a generic term for a place that is abundant in whatever you're looking for. The place in the woods, during deer season, where the deer hang out. The part of a lake or pond where lots of hungry, gullible fish congregate.
Or, in a sex worker context: maybe a political convention?
