MY last duty assignment in the army was in the DC metro area. If they get more than 2 inches it basically cripples them. The "BLIZZARD" of 1996 DC area got about 11 inches over the course of a week with 2 storms moving through they were messed up for almost a month on the side streets. I lived in Virginia outside the beltway they had about two feet of snow through the two storms. I was considered "essential" personnel and was expected to come in to work. I did get into work and never missed a shift. I couldn't get back into the neighborhood where I lived because of the wall of snow at the end of the street. I parked my car at the fire station and walked home.
